State transportation officials had predicted northbound Interstate 5 at Laguna Boulevard in Elk Grove would not reopen until a little after 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Northbound Interstate 5 at Laguna Boulevard in Elk Grove was closed Wednesday morning due to a crash involving a pickup and two large trucks.

The crashes occurred around 4 a.m. Spilled petroleum products must be cleaned up before all lanes can be re-opened on that stretch of I-5. Minor injuries were reported.
In addition, at 7:30 a.m., traffic was snarled at the ramp from northbound Highway 99 to westbound Highway 50 due to a jackknifed big rig. The transition ramp re-opened at about 8.
