At about 4:30 a.m. at 4700 Boone near Bellaire, a driver lost control of their vehicle and veered from the road, crashing into a tree. The victim died at the scene. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.
A police cruiser carrying two officers was hit by a suspected drunk driver riding in a 2014 BMW, injuring the officer who was sitting on the passenger side. The officer suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the BMW was arrested. More information will be posted as it is released.
A land surveyor was standing on a sidewalk when he was hit by a Toyota Camry. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries. The driver that hit him, identified as Donald Cole, got out of the car and fled on foot. In a bizarre twist, the body of Donald Cole was found in Buffalo Bayou on November 11. Police are currently unsure about the cause of death. The two incidents are currently under investigation.
A woman was driving on the Eastex Freeway when her vehicle stalled in a moving lane. She got out of her car and attempted to run across the lanes of the freeway and was struck by a dark-colored SUV. She died at the scene, and the driver of the SUV did not stop. No one else was injured.
A woman was heading east in a red Ford Ranger in the 4400 block of the East Freeway when she failed to control her speed and hit a black Toyota Camry. Her pickup left the roadway and struck a tree, killing her and injuring her children, a 15-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl, who were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Two vehicles, a 4Runner and Ford Escape, crashed when one of the vehicles attempted to make a U-turn. Both drivers were trapped inside their vehicles, and had to be flown to hospitals by helicopter. Investigators are trying to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash. More information will be posted as it is released.
