One person died early Wednesday morning in a crash when a driver slammed into a tree in southwest Houston.

Houston police say the victim was driving alone and heading north on Boone Street near Bellaire Boulevard.

At about 4:30 a.m. at 4700 Boone near Bellaire, a driver lost control of their vehicle and veered from the road, crashing into a tree. The victim died at the scene. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.
