The N.C. Highway Patrol says an Alabama couple was killed as they changed a tire on Interstate 40. The patrol identified the victims as George and Carol Kittle, of Hollytree, Ala. Both were 66. The patrol said the couple was almost done changing the tire when a truck sideswiped their truck and struck them Tuesday morning, throwing them 100 feet. The accident occurred in the westbound lanes of I-40 at the Catawba County line.

A man was killed in a wrong-say crash Tuesday morning when he collided with a semi, police said. San Antonio police first received a call about a black Mazda headed south in the northbound lanes of U.S. 281 near St. Mary's Street. A few minutes later, a call for a wrong-way crash came in at 2:33 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 South at the Cesar Chavez Boulevard exit, police said. The driver of a black Mazda 3 was going south in the northbound lanes and collided with a semi.

A 10-mile stretch of Interstate 90 eastbound has been shut down after at least 10 different traffic crashes involving about two dozen cars. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the first calls for the accidents came in around 11 a.m. Tuesday as holiday traffic increased and the weather continued to dump snow in the area. The crashes are expected to delay traffic for several hours, dispatchers said. OSHP said the eastbound lanes of I-90 were closed between Ohio 44 and the Madison exit, a stretch of about 10 miles, dispatchers said.

Authorities are looking for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident early Tuesday morning. Deputies responded to the 7000 block of FM 1960 around 3:30 a.m. after witnesses reported seeing a woman's body in the middle of the road. As of Tuesday morning, investigators hadn't released any information regarding the woman's identity, and they said it's still not clear why she was in the middle of the road. Detectives closed FM 1960 and diverted traffic while they conducted their investigation. All lanes of FM 1960 reopened shortly before 8 a.m.

Four people were hospitalized after a serious crash at Joint Base Andrews. Police say the car slammed into a pole along Allentown Road around midnight Tuesday. One of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

A Hoquiam man died in a log truck crash on a forest service road in the Capitol State Forest, the State Patrol stated at about 4:30 p.m. Monday. Michael J. Webber, 37, drove off the roadway and hit a tree and a stump. No other vehicles were involved. Webber was driving north on KC Line Road, one mile south of State Route 8, according to the state patrol. What caused the crash is still being investigated.

A pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run driver in San Jose early Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. The victim, a 48-year-old San Jose man, was walking west across Bascom Avenue south of Scott Street when he was hit by a car traveling north on Bascom, CHP officials said. The driver fled after the collision, and the CHP was contacted at 12:45 a.m. when a witness spotted the victim lying motionless in the roadway. He was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where he died of his injuries at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

An 11-year-old boy who was struck by two cars when he walked across the street with a friend on Monday has died from his injuries.

Moses Galang was hit by a silver Honda and a van near Bruceville Road and Cosumnes River Boulevard on Monday. The Honda stayed at the scene.

The van is described as a white or light colored late 1970s to early 1980s Ford or Chevy full-size van with a raised roof cap. The cap is described as a camper or ice cream-type van top where the occupant can stand up inside. There is no description of the occupants, including the driver.

A 69-year old Milton-Freewater man trying to cross Oregon 11 died Monday night when he was struck by a pickup truck, Oregon State Police reported.

Juan Flores-Romero, of Milton-Freewater, died at the scene of the 6:50 p.m. incident, troopers said.
The driver, Miguel Cisneros, 31, of Milton-Freewater, was not injured, but was cited by troopers for driving with a suspended license and driving uninsured.

A woman was struck and killed by a pick-up truck Monday night.

Police say it happened on Iyannough Road around 9 p.m.

Officers performed CPR on the woman at the scene. She was taken to Cape Cod Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The woman has been identified as Zhou Caron, 50, of Hyannis.

The driver of the 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck has been identified as an Eastham man.
Charges have not yet been filed against the driver.

The crash remains under investigation.
