A 10-mile stretch of Interstate 90 eastbound has been shut down after at least 10 different traffic crashes involving about two dozen cars.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the first calls for the accidents came in around 11 a.m. Tuesday as holiday traffic increased and the weather continued to dump snow in the area.
The crashes are expected to delay traffic for several hours, dispatchers said.
OSHP said the eastbound lanes of I-90 were closed between Ohio 44 and the Madison exit, a stretch of about 10 miles, dispatchers said.
There were a few minor injuries reported so far, dispatchers said.
The Ohio Department of Transportation's detour is to take Ohio 44 north to state Ohio 2 and U.S. Route 20.
ODOT said tow trucks started removing disabled cars from the highway about 2:50 p.m. All westbound lanes were reopened as of 3 p.m.
Officials said it is still unknown when I-90 eastbound will reopen.
