A 51-year-old Lake City woman was killed in a crash with a tractor-trailer Wednesday morning on Interstate 10, west of U.S. Highway 41, a crash that closed eastbound lanes for nearly seven hours, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

State troopers said Christina Fields was heading westbound on I-10 in the left lane about 8:30 a.m. when her car went off the roadway, across the median and into the path of the big rig heading east.

Fields died at the scene. James Rose, 52, of Conyers, Ga., was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and later released.

The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office has identified the man killed in a fatal collision early Sunday (March 16) on I-10 near the Irish Bayou exit, as Sheriff's Office Deputy Brunell A. Magee.

Magee, 35, was off-duty and traveling east on I-10 through eastern New Orleans when he lost control of his Dodge Intrepid. It veered over the median into westbound traffic and struck a vehicle driven by a 61-year-old man, according to police.

Magee was taken to Interim LSU Public Hospital, where he died.

The other driver is at the hospital and in stable condition.

A Duke University senior from Cary died Friday in a car crash on Interstate 10 in northern Florida.

The university says Rebecca DeNardis and six other students were traveling in a van with the director of Duke's Outdoor Adventure program when it was struck by another vehicle.

DeNardis was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Another student, identified as Joao Correia Marques, 21, was airlifted to a hospital in Pensacola, and a third student was treated and released.

Charges are pending against the driver who hit them.

Two people died in a crash Friday just after 12:30 a.m. in Boerne, according to the Boerne Police Department. The crash occurred after a call came in for a wrong-way driver at the 540 mile marker of Interstate 10, according to police. Three helicopter ambulances were called to the scene, according to police. Mary Hodsdon, 21, was one of the people who died, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner's office. The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating.

A Baytown man died Friday in a head-on collision with a big rig in east Harris County, authorities said.

The injured semi truck driver told Baytown Police Department that he was pulling out of the Chevron Chemical plant about 10 p.m. when he saw a pickup truck coming at him in the wrong direction. The two collided head-on in the 9500 block of Interstate 10.

Police identified the pickup driver, who was killed, as Ryan Dunlop, 25.

A man is dead after driving the wrong way and crashing into an 18-wheeler. According to the Houston Police Department, a man was driving a white Chevy Silverado pickup truck around 10:00 p.m. Friday. The man somehow got on the westbound feeder lanes of I-10 going eastbound, the wrong direction The driver then slammed head-on into an 18-wheeler going westbound. The 25-year-old driver of the pickup truck was trapped in the truck and had to be extricated once police arrived. He was taken to Hermann Memorial Hospital by Lifeflight in critical condition, where he later died.
