A man is accused of setting two houses on fire on 4th Street and F Street, which fortunately had no one in them at the time. After commiting arson, the suspect backed his car up to the front doors of a Good and Quick convenience store then slammed on the gas, causing the car to blast backwards into the store and nearly strike two people. The man then sped away at speeds of up to 80 mph.

Police confirmed a fatal wreck on I-59 at mile marker 221 early Wednesday morning between an 18-wheeler and a minivan near Fort Payne.

Witnesses saw a small plane go down near Shenandoah Pathat 12:30 pm. Responders were able to reach the site quickly, but the pilot had already died. The plane wasreportedly a single engine, fixed wing airplane that had burst into flames after crashing. Details about the accident will be posted once they are released.

Just after 2:00am, a woman driving on Roosevelt Boulevard lost control and hit a tree in the median, which caused her car to combust. Bystanders attempted to rescue the woman, but could not because of the flames, and she was pronounced dead at the scene when medics arrived. We will update this accident as more information is released.

At around noon, a Lexus went from St. Johns into oncoming traffic on Blanding and struck a Dodge. The Dodge glanced off of the Lexus, went through oncoming lanes, and finally burst into flames just outside of a nearby building. Witness William Lippus and others that were in the building helped the passengers out of the burning vehicle. Not much detail on the severity of the injuries was available, but most injuries were likely serious as the passengers of the Lexus were carried away on stretchers, and a passenger in the Dodge claimed to not be able to feel her legs.

At about 12:52pm a Chevy Silverado and an Amtrak passenger train collided, killing the driver of the truck and starting a small fire in the grass, but not injuring anyone else. It is still unclear whether the truck was stopped on the train tracks or if it was attempting to cross as the train was coming. A motorcyclist was driving on West Copans Road when they lost control of their motorcycle and crashed into a concrete pole. The impact started a fire that destroyed the remains of the motorcycle, and the driver was declared dead at the scene. Authorities believe high-speed was in part to blame for this accident, but the incident is still under investigation.

In addition to the injuries, the crash also ignited a small brush fire, but it was properly taken care of before spreading too far. A man was driving near Monroe Road on Interstate 59 when he drove off the road, and the car rolled over and caught fire. Bystanders were able to help the man escape before the vehicle caught fire, saving his life. Parts of the forest the car crashed into caught fire when the car did, but firefighters were able to contain it. The man's name has not been released.
