A man is accused of setting two houses on fire on 4th Street and F Street, which fortunately had no one in them at the time. After commiting arson, the suspect backed his car up to the front doors of a Good and Quick convenience store then slammed on the gas, causing the car to blast backwards into the store and nearly strike two people. The man then sped away at speeds of up to 80 mph.
Witnesses saw a small plane go down near Shenandoah Pathat 12:30 pm. Responders were able to reach the site quickly, but the pilot had already died. The plane wasreportedly a single engine, fixed wing airplane that had burst into flames after crashing. Details about the accident will be posted once they are released.
A motorcyclist was driving on West Copans Road when they lost control of their motorcycle and crashed into a concrete pole. The impact started a fire that destroyed the remains of the motorcycle, and the driver was declared dead at the scene. Authorities believe high-speed was in part to blame for this accident, but the incident is still under investigation.
A man was driving near Monroe Road on Interstate 59 when he drove off the road, and the car rolled over and caught fire. Bystanders were able to help the man escape before the vehicle caught fire, saving his life. Parts of the forest the car crashed into caught fire when the car did, but firefighters were able to contain it. The man's name has not been released.
