A bicyclist who was struck by a big-rig truck and killed in West Oakland has been identified as a 62-year-old El Cerrito woman, the Alameda County Coroner's office said Thursday.

Susan Watson was riding her bicycle at Fifth and Market streets at about 6:15 p.m. Dec, 17 when the truck hit her, police said.

The truck driver has been cooperating with the investigation, according to authorities.

The woman was riding her bike at Fifth and Market streets about 6:15 p.m. when a big-rig truck hit her, according to authorities.

A 27-year-old Lynnwood woman was injured Tuesday morning after she reportedly fell asleep at the wheel and crashed her car into a telephone pole in Edmonds.

The accident happened about 6 a.m. along 76th Avenue W. The road was closed from the 20800 block to the 21200 block for some time.

No alcohol or drugs were believed to be involved, said Edmonds police.

The woman, who had been driving a 2002 BMW 325, was taken to a local hospital and was expected to survive, according to police.

A woman was struck by a freight train Tuesday night in the Austin neighborhood.

The woman, 56, was found at approximately 10 p.m. in the 2000 block of North Narragansett Avenue, or near the Galewood Metra station, a police News Affairs Officer said.

She was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in critical condition, Greer said.

Area Central detectives are investigating.

A 15-year-old Decatur County girl was killed Tuesday evening when the vehicle she was riding in ran a stop sign and was struck by a pick up truck.

The accident happened around 6 p.m. at State Road 3 and County Road 500 North, north of Greensburg.

Investigators say Lindsay Noah died at the scene. Her 18-year-old brother was taken to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with severe facial cuts. Lindsay Noah attended North Decatur High School.

The woman who was driving the truck was treated and released from Decatur County Memorial Hospital.

A pedestrian suffered a life-threatening injury Tuesday in Pacific Beach after being hit in the head by the side-view mirror of a motor home.

The 47-year-old victim was standing just off the curb in a crosswalk at Ingraham Street at La Playa Avenue about 2:30 p.m. when he was struck by a 1972 Winnebago, a San Diego police detective said.

The 40-year-old driver was heading south when her brakes failed, and she swerved to the right to avoid the car in front of her. That vehicle had stopped for the pedestrian.

A commuter rail train heading through Fitchburg went off the tracks Tuesday night during the snowstorm.

Authorities said the 8 p.m. crash was caused by slippery conditions when the train was unable to stop.
About 40 people were on that train, but no serious injuries were reported.

A family escaped injury Tuesday night, when a car slammed into their City Heights apartment building.

The San Diego Police Department said the wreck occurred at 10:15 p.m. at a two-story complex at Menlo Avenue and Olive Street.

The driver stated that his Honda Accord lost power, which resulted in a brake and steering failure.

The man's family was also in the car as it coasted down Olive Street and through Menlo Avenue before crashing into the building.

Traffic was backed up Tuesday night on Interstate 8 east in the Mission Valley area due to a multi-vehicle collision.

One vehicle was on its side, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported about 6:35 p.m. near Mission Center Road.

A family of four was in one of the vehicles, the CHP said. They were able to get out on their own.

Debris was reported to be scattered in several lanes

Emergency crews are responding to reports that a vehicle crashed into the side of a house in Chula Vista.

The incident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday in the 2400 block of Eagle Valley Drive, near Saddlehorn Drive.

According to the Chula Vista Fire Department, the vehicle went through a 6-foot fence and struck the side of the house. Firefighters are in the process of rescuing someone who was trapped in the vehicle.

San Diego Gas & Electric crews are responding due to electrical damage to the home. Some structural damage was also reported.
