Westbound Interstate 40 is closed about 30 miles west of the Arizona-New Mexico line due to a truck accident Friday morning.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says travelers should expect an extended closure at Chambers and I-40′s junction with U.S. 191.

ADOT advises drivers to delay travel and to exit I-40 before reaching the closure area.

It says there are no nearby alternate routes to get around the closure. However, westbound motorists can take U.S. 191 south to St. Johns and then take U.S. 180 westbound to return to I-40 at Holbrook.
