Police have identified a tractor-trailer driver killed in a crash on I-70 in Putnam County on Monday. The driver was Robert P. Deakin, age 46, of Avon, Indiana. The coroner found the cause of death was blunt force trauma. The crash occurred at around 12:36 pm Monday in the westbound lanes on I-70 near the 30 mile marker. Indiana State Police say traffic was slowing down for a construction zone and moving into the right lane. A westbound tractor-trailer failed to slow down and rear-ended another tractor-trailer. The impact sent that vehicle into a passenger car.
