The tanker spilled between 250 and 500 gallons of gasoline into the ditch, and around 20 emergency vehicles were sent to the site to remove fuel from the damaged tanker. A crane was brought in to remove the vehicle from the ditch. Four other vehicles were involved in the crash but no other injuries were reported. Grattan was airlifted by helicopter to hospital but died shortly after the crash.

A Natchitoches woman witnessed the plane crash Sunday morning that claimed the life of a local barber and sent a former city councilman to the hospital. Officials are not yet sure who was at the controls of a plane that crashed Sunday morning in South Natchitoches, but Gloria Young ran to the scene as she was on her way out to church. "We were getting ready to go to church when I heard this whistling," she said. "Then you heard a big boom like maybe not an explosion but like a gun.

A 68-year old Arlington woman died of injuries suffered Thursday in a head-on collision between a Toyota Prius with a tractor trailer on Route 2 in Athol, according to Massachusetts State Police. The woman, identified as Carole Lawton, was pronounced dead at Athol Memorial Hospital, police said. The driver of her car, a 67-year-old man also from Arlington, suffered serious injuries in the crash. He was initially transported to Athol Memorial but has since been transferred to UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester. Police were not releasing his name Thursday night.

The Iowa State Patrol says a teenager from Sac County has been killed in a head-on car crash with a recreational vehicle. The patrol reports the crash occurred Tuesday on Highway 71, south of Early. Authorities say 16-year-old Coral Deal died after driving off the road and then overcorrecting. They say the teen’s Pontiac Vibe crossed the center line and hit a Fleetwood RV driven by a 71-year-old Texas man. The car was crushed under the RV’s front wheels. The man wasn’t injured. The patrol is investigating.

A 75-year-old Richmond Heights man was killed after traveling the wrong way on Interstate 44 in Stanton, Missouri early Wednesday morning. Authorities said Roy Blair was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 44 when a car swerved to avoid him, sideswiping into a tractor trailer. Police said Blair continued driving, striking two other vehicles.

A Pueblo West man was killed in a crash in Fremont County on Thursday. The crash happened on Hwy 50, about seven miles east of Cañon City, around 11 a.m. The Colorado State Patrol says 78-year-old Walter Giffin overcorrected his car, causing it to rollover. Giffin was killed. The crash is still under investigation, but troopers don't believe alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.

An 80-year-old man from Bandon and a 64-year-old woman from San Francisco have been identified as the two people killed in a head-on collision along U.S. 101 near Bandon on Monday. OSP said that the incident was reported about 3:30 p.m. According to the investigation, it appears a southbound Honda Accord driven by Donald William Dodge of Bandon "for unknown reasons" crossed the centerline into the northbound lane and collided with a Honda Element being driven by Virginia Simpson Woodson. OSP said both drivers died at the scene.

A man riding a moped died after he was struck by a Marion County deputy in Mullins Wednesday morning, confirmed county Coroner Jerry Richardson. The victim has been identified as 68-year-old Kenneth Killingsworth, according to Coroner Richardson. The accident happened at about 11:38 a.m. on Gapway Street near U.S. 76, in south Mullins, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the coroner's office. Gapway Street was shut down Wednesday afternoon while authorities were at the incident. The Florence County Sheriff's Office is investigating, Coroner Richardson confirmed.

Police say they have a 30-year-old man in custody in a fatal crash Sunday night in East St. Louis. Helen Bush, 86, of East St. Louis, was killed in the crash about 7 p.m. at 17th Street and Bond Avenue, police say. Another woman, Teenette Dae, 72, of East St. Louis, was critically injured and was being treated at St. Louis University Hospital. Bush and Dae were in a 2013 Nissan at the intersection when a man driving a black Monte Carlo east on Bond struck their vehicle, said East St. Louis Assistant Chief R.O. Ike. Ike said the man was driving recklessly.

A California man was killed in an early morning crash on Interstate 20 in Mitchell County early Thursday morning. The accident happened about 5 miles west of Westbrook. According to the DPS, 79-year-old Robert Beaufort Case of Homeland, California was driving the wrong way in the westbound lane of the interstate when his car was struck head-on by an 18-wheeler traveling west. Case died at the scene. The truck driver was treated and released from Mitchell County Hospital.
