A child is recovering after he was ejected from a vehicle during a crash on the 5 Freeway in Anaheim Wednesday. The driver swerved in an attempt to avoid a tire tread, lost control of his 2002 Lincoln Navigator and crashed into a retaining wall near Magnolia Avenue around 8:15 p.m. The force of the crash sent his 4-year-old out of the car, despite being strapped into a car safety seat. The youngster landed on a soft bed of ice plants planted along the freeway. He was transported to UC Irvine Medical Center with minor injuries.

A school bus carrying children and two other vehicles collided this morning in Northeast Philadelphia. The yellow bus, white van and red SUV were involved in the chain-reaction wreck at Rhawn and Eastwood Streets around 9:45 a.m. At least nine injuries were reported including children on the bus. Philadelphia Police accident investigators desribced the injuries as mostly bumps and bruises. As SkyForce10 hovered overhead a short time later it appeared that the bus, operated by Philly-based Leahy Transportation, hit the back of the van, which hit the back of the SUV.

Salem Police identified the two people killed in a car crash Tuesday evening as a McMinnville mother and her 9-year-old daughter. Kelly Moore, 26, and one of her twin daughters, Jasmine, were declared dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred near the intersection of Turner Road Southeast and Airway Drive Southeast. They were among four passengers in a 1994 Ford Escort driven by Hannah Reitz, 28, of McMinnville.

Parents of an Orange County teenager who was seriously hurt in a hit-and-run announced Wednesday they are offering a reward to help find the person behind the wheel. Stephen Cureton, 17, was walking with a friend near Yorktown Avenue and Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach about 8:30 p.m. Monday when he was struck by a car and thrown 40 feet, his parents said. "To launch his body about 40 feet, have him hit the pavement at the impact that it did and then just leave him there ... I am just appalled that someone would consider my son disposable," said the teen's mother, Victoria Cureton.

Three adults and 16 children suffered injuries when an ambulance crashed into a bus Sunday in Brooklyn, sources said. The vehicles collided at 51st St. and Fort Hamilton Parkway in Borough Park at 8:57 p.m., officials said.

A 13-year-old Circleville boy died in a crash on icy roads in Pickaway County early yesterday. Zachary Manns was a passenger in his mother’s car when it slid on icy roads at 8:08 a.m. on a curve on Stoutsville Pike in Washington Township, east of Circleville. His mother, 36-year-old Kristy Stone, was driving eastbound when the car slid and she went left of center, said the commander of the Circleville Post of the State Highway Patrol. Stone’s Grand Prix was hit by a westbound Geo Tracker driven by F.D. Easterday, 75, of Stoutsville.

We are learning new details after a school bus stolen by a 14-year-old boy crashed into a Roseville gas station Monday morning. The theft happened around 7:50 a.m. while the bus was parked on a side road with the keys inside and running near a Holiday Inn on the corner of Rice Street and Wheelock Parkway in St. Paul, according to police.

Police are looking for a driver who struck and killed a 15-year-old boy and fled the scene in Fort Lauderdale Sunday. The crash happened just after 1 a.m. in the 2700 block of West Broward Boulevard as the pedestrian, Justin Flowers, was crossing the street, Fort Lauderdale Police said. According to police, an older model Jeep Cherokee changed lanes and struck Flowers, who was thrown to the ground. He was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center where he later died.

Five elementary school students were hospitalized after one school bus rear-ended another in Washtenaw County this morning. The Lincoln Consolidated Schools buses crashed at Whittaker and Bemis roads in Augusta Township about 8:42 a.m., according to a spokesman for the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office.

Three people, including a 6-year-old boy, escaped serious injury when the all-terrain vehicle they were on broke through the ice of China Lake. The operator of the ATV, Lucas Cole of Benton, was trapped in the water for about five minutes and suffered hypothermia and frostbite. The 25-year-old Cole stated that he went under the water three times before his friend, Donald Cowles, pulled him free. Cowles threw his 6-year-old nephew to safety first. All three were treated at the hospital.
