The Wickliffe Police Department responded to a reported car accident Sunday morning at the Shell gas station. Upon arrival, police found 34-year-old Benjamin Scholes at the scene of the accident. Scholes admitting to losing control of his vehicle on a patch of ice. Scholes' blood alcohol content was a .189. He was arrested and charged with OVI failure to control. He was released after posting a $3,500 bond. Police say the canopy of the gas station and gas pump received extensive damage from the crash.

Authorities in Bay County say a drunken driver crashed an SUV into a house, killing a man who lived there and injuring his wife. The crash happened early Sunday in Auburn, about 10 miles west of Bay City. Police stated that the dead man was 41-year-old Vaughn Lietzke. Authorities say his 42-year-old wife Sandra Lietzke was airlifted to Saginaw’s Saint Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center, where she was in stable condition. Deputies say the 21-year-old driver, later identified as Hunter D. Motko, 21, failed to stop at a stop sign, ran over a curb and struck a corner of the house.

A man was hurt Sunday when the snowmobile he was riding on crashed and he was thrown from the vehicle. It happened around 6 a.m. on the eastern shoreline of Magician Lake in Silver Creek Township, northwest of Dowagiac, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

A 44-year-old man was charged with driving under the influence Friday night after causing a three-car accident on Route 44 that injured two children, police said. Several fire departments responded to crash, which happened at the intersection of Route 44 and Old Albany Turnpike near the Simsbury town line about 6:21 p.m. According to police, the first vehicle, driven by Alex Ponomarov, turned left from Route 44 onto Old Albany Turnpike and struck the side of a minivan that was traveling in the opposite lane of Route 44.

A deadly hit-and-run crash closed part of Kuykendahl Road in north Harris County early Thursday morning. Harris County sheriff's deputies said a red sedan with two men inside was heading south on Kuykendahl just after midnight when a man was crossing the road near the intersection of Cypress Landing. The pedestrian was hit by the car. His body actually went into the windshield," said a Sgt. with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. "He rode on top of the car for two or three hundred yards." The man, later identified as Julio Alberto Moreira, died at the scene.

Police say a suspected drunk driver lost control of his mini-van near 11th and West Cumberland Street and crashed into a car going through the intersection. It happened at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. The vehicle then careened off that car and then came to a halt when his van smashed into two police cars that were stopped nearby. One 22nd District police officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to Temple University Hospital for treatment of minor non-life threatening injuries. He is expected to be released.

The fiance of a woman who was killed in a collision on State Route 167 near Puyallup early Tuesday says she was 12 weeks pregnant when she died. Jason Speers said he and his fiancee, 34-year-old Shanna Huttenstine, were in a cab headed home to Tacoma from the hospital when their cab collided with a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup, a 48-year-old Puyallup man, later identified as Anderson Hamilton, was booked into jail for vehicular homicide after the collision.

Police charged a 48-year-old North Circle Drive man with drunken driving after he allegedly crashed his moped at Mapleshade Avenue and Elm street early Saturday. Sgt. Patrick Manley said a passerby reported the crash about 1:50 a.m. The rider, David D. Sunter, of 68 North Circle Drive, was also charged with driving with a suspended license. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, Manley said. Manley said moped operators are required to follow the same laws of the road that govern motor vehicle drivers.

A King County sheriff’s deputy was arrested Friday morning after he crashed his patrol car in Mill Creek, rear-ending another car while on duty. Investigators suspect he was impaired. The deputy is 47 and a 19-year veteran of the force. He was put on paid administrative leave while the investigation is under way. The collision was reported just before 7 a.m. at the intersection of 132nd Street SE and the Bothell-Everett Highway.

A 57-year-old man faces charges of reckless driving and driving under the influence after a rollover crash Thursday night, Feb. 27, on Roeder Avenue. The Ford Ranger driven by Thomas Peter Tom had been speeding at 60 mph in a 35 mph zone around 9:40 p.m. on Roeder. The truck crashed and may have rolled multiple times before landing on its side. Tom and a 24-year-old woman in the passenger seat somehow escaped with just scrapes and bruises. Police suspect Tom was intoxicated. He was taken to St. Joseph Hospital as a precaution and to have his blood drawn.
