A 38-year-old woman was arrested in Appleton Thursday after police say she drove while drunk, ran a red light and crashed into a pickup truck, leaving one person with life-threatening injuries. The crash occurred about 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Kensington Drive and E. College Ave. The 72-year-old Green Bay man driving the truck was injured, but is expected to recover. The female driver and two of her passengers, a 22-year-old Appleton man and a 56-year-old Neenah woman, were injured in the crash. The Neenah woman's injuries were described as life-threatening.

A 39-year-old Long Island woman has been arrested for allegedly driving drunk with her two young children in the car, police say. Suffolk County police say Laquita Brooks was arrested after losing control of the car and striking a signpost and then a tree Thursday night in Huntington. Police say her 5-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter were seated in the rear and didn't have proper child restraints. The girl suffered a serious head injury and her brother sustained a minor head injury. The mother wasn't seriously hurt.

Investigators say a driver is charged with alleged DUI following a three-vehicle chain reaction crash early Friday morning. It happened shortly after 12 a.m. at the unit block of East Sharpnack Street in Mount Airy. According to police, the suspect tried to blend in with a crowd that had formed around the accident. He suffered minor injuries. A 75-year-old man was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center. His condition is unknown at this time. Another man suffered a broken arm. The accident remains under investigation.

The driver of an SUV who crashed into a pole in Seattle’s Rainier Valley Sunday night has been arrested on vehicular assault charges. The collision occurred at  Rainier Avenue South and South Willow Street shortly after 9 p.m., where a SUV with a driver and three passengers had collided with a telephone pole at a high rate of speed. The driver, a 27-year-old man, had a broken leg. One passenger, who was ejected from the back seat, had serious injuries. Another passenger had minor injuries from the crash.

Police say a Clayton man was drunk and speeding when he lost control of his car and crashed into a retention pond in New Castle, Delaware. The crash occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Friday. New Castle County police say the driver, 41-year-old Robert Blisard, hit the rear bumper of another vehicle, causing him to lose control of his car and crash into the pond located off the east bound lanes of Commons Boulevard near Reads Way. The driver of the other vehicle and a passenger in Blisard’s car were treated for minor injuries.

A Bellingham man who hit a pedestrian with his car on Samish Way Saturday night, Dec. 21, was booked into jail on suspicion of vehicular assault. Officers received a report that a shirtless man was jumping into the street and screaming at cars in the 1000 block of Samish Way at 10:03 p.m.. A minute later, another caller reported that a southbound Subaru station wagon had struck a man in the same block. The 29-year-old victim was unconscious and bleeding when police arrived, and he was taken to St. Joseph hospital with a head injury.

A driver traveled the wrong way for 2.3 miles on Interstate 794 over the Hoan Bridge early Saturday until he crashed into a three-foot median wall just north of Carferry Drive, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said Saturday. Deputies said that after Edward Deshazer of Cudahy drove a 2007 white Ford Expedition onto I-794 at Lincoln Memorial Drive multiple squads responded to a call that came in about 2 a.m. from a construction worker. Deshazer was cited for driving while intoxicated, a first offense, and recklessly endangering safety, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.

A habitual drunken driver who killed another motorist while driving the wrong way on U.S. 281 was sentenced by a jury Thursday morning to life in prison. It took jurors in the 227th state District Court less than an hour to decide the punishment for Frances Rosalez Ford, 40, who began her trial earlier this week by pleading guilty to murder. Prosecutors opted to charge her with murder rather than intoxication manslaughter because she caused a death during the commission of a felony — her third DWI.

Two drivers were injured Tuesday night in a head-on collision on state Route 94 near Dulzura, and one was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence, the California Highway Patrol said. The crash occurred about 7:50 p.m. west of Honey Springs Road. Both lanes of Route 94 were closed for a short time during the investigation.

One person was arrested after a multi-vehicle wreck shut down Interstate 270 for several hours in north St. Louis County late Tuesday night. The wreck happened on I-270 at Route 370 in Bridgeton around 11:45 p.m. According to police, Javier Hernandez was driving eastbound when he lost control of his 2001 Grand Prix and struck a 2000 Ford Explorer, causing it to roll over. Hernandez was taken into custody and later charged with driving while intoxicated and 2nd-degree felony assault. The driver of the Explorer suffered minor injuries.
