A man died Wednesday from complications with injuries he sustained in a crash that occurred on Interstate 70 on Tuesday evening.
According to Columbus police, the crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-70 just west of James Road in east Columbus at about 7:04 p.m.
Investigators say that Leon Edward Bates III, 30, was attempting to move off the right side of the road at a slow rate of speed. He may have been experiencing trouble with his vehicle.
A semi truck driver who stopped to help two other motorists involved in a crash was struck and killed by another semi this morning on Interstate 70 westbound near the Indianapolis International Airport.
Two vehicles collided after 3 a.m. today, just east of the area of the airport, an Indiana State Police post commander said. A truck driver pulled over behind the crash and got out of his truck. He was walking toward the injured motorists when he was struck and killed, police said.
After several hours of closure, westbound I-70 was reopened in the area by 7:45 a.m..
