Troopers were investigating a crash involving a motorcycle on southbound I-5 Thursday afternoon. The motorcyclist was thrown onto the northbound shoulder at 12:37 p.m., just north of the Snohomish River near Everett. Police believe the man, 30, of Selah, somehow lost control of his motorcycle. Witnesses reported seeing the man making abrupt lane changes for about 10 miles before the crash. The man was taken to a local hospital with a foot injury. He is under investigation for speeding and reckless driving.

Oregon State Police deputies continue to investigate a serious injury two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near Sutherlin Tuesday night. Shortly before 9 p.m., a 1985 Dodge pickup, driven by 30-year-old Joseph Reitmeier, of Medford, was northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 138 when its right rear tire blew out, said Lt. Gregg Hastings , an OSP spokesman.

A newly purchased, $80,000 transport van used by the Veteran’s Administration to transport disabled vets was one of two vehicles totaled in a crash on I-5 Saturday morning.

All southbound lanes were closed at 272nd because of the crash.

Witnesses said the driver of a blue SUV may have tried to pass on the right shoulder at a high rate of speed, causing the collision.

The State Patrol said the driver of the VA van had just dropped someone off prior to the collision. Nobody was seriously hurt in the collision.

A Ridgefield man caused a second crash after he allegedly tried to film the scene of a fatal crash while he was driving. Devin Braithwaite, 19, was driving a 2011 Dodge Charger south on Interstate 5 near the Northeast 179th Street Friday night when he approached the scene of an earlier fatal crash. Earlier in the evening, Sergey A. Bondarchuk, 18, of Vancouver lost control of a 1997 Acura sedan and struck a tree. He was declared dead at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. While passing the scene, Braithwaite tried to record the scene with his cell phone.

A Vancouver man was killed late Friday in a single-car accident on Interstate 5 north of Vancouver, according to the Washington State Patrol. The WSP reported that Sergey A. Bondarchuk, 18, was driving a 1997 Acura sedan south on I-5 at 11:27 p.m. when he lost control while attempting to change lanes. The Acura went off the the freeway just north of Northeast 179th Street and struck a tree. Bondarchuk was declared dead at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, the WSP reported.

A Washington State Patrol trooper was taken to the hospital for minor injuries after a five-car collision on the slick roads of Interstate 5 Tuesday morning. Just before 6 a.m., the trooper was northbound on I-5 responding to a report of a car in the median on the left side of the freeway just south of Bow Hill Road. When the trooper pulled her vehicle over to the right shoulder to assist, she noticed a second vehicle in the ditch on the right side. A third vehicle then slid and crashed into the second one.

A traffic accident in the southbound lanes of Interstate-5 near Northgate has caused a seven-mile backup from Northgate all the way to Interstate-405, according to the state Department of Transportation. The incident has made the Everett to Seattle commute more than an hour and a half. The Transportation Department recommends taking State Route 99 to avoid the traffic jam, which at 8:30 a.m. was blocking three lanes.

A 22-year-old Bremerton man was killed late Sunday in an Interstate 5 collision near Mountlake Terrace involving a tanker truck filled with liquid nitrogen. A Honda Accord passed the tanker truck in the HOV lane, swerved to the left, hit the barrier, then swerved back to the right and hit the truck. The car was crushed by the truck, which was carrying about 7,000 pounds of liquid nitrogen. Washington State Patrol reported it took several hours to unload the nitrogen from the truck. All northbound lanes of Interstate 5 were closed until about 7:45 a.m.

A 31-year-old man has died of injuries suffered on Interstate 5 on Feb. 14 when a wheel from a trailer crashed through the windshield of his vehicle.

Two inmates in a roadside work crew were struck by a semi-truck on Interstate 5 near Wilsonville Tuesday morning, according to Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue. Witnesses said the truck driver told them he choked on coffee and then passed out before hitting the workers. One of the injured inmates was taken to Oregon Health & Science University hospital. The 40-year-old woman's injuries were serious, but did not appear to be life-threatening, according to TVF&R spokesman Piseth Pich. The other inmate was treated at the scene. Chris Sturges works nearby and helped the victims.
