Cheron Swanson, 68, of Dayton, was driving east on County Road 81 Friday around 4 pm when she was struck head-on by a car driven by Michael Kelley, 54, who was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane. Kelley, of Dayton, was also killed in the crash. A vehicle traveling westbound on County Road 81 had crossed over into the eastbound lane, causing an initial two-car sideswipe collision. The sideswiped vehicle then hit another vehicle. Three people suffered non-critical injuries in this first crash.

Kassandra Keske was driving southbund on U.S. 169 when she lost control of her car on an icy stretch of road and collided with both an SUV and a pickup going the other way on the road. Keske died at the scene, and the driver of the SUV was hospitalized. The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.

Meshu Lamu was walking to a bus stop on Highway 252 when he was struck by as many as two different vehicles and died of his injuries. Neither vehicle stopped to help him. Witnesses desrcibe the vehicles as being a dark sedan and a red SUV, with damage on their left sides. Police at this point are unsure if both vehicles struck Lamu but want to bring in both drivers for questioning to find out what happened. Lamu had a wife, 6 children, and four grandchildren.

Vanessa Uzong, 24, of Brooklyn Park, is in custody on felony assault charges after hitting 26-year-old Miera Horton with a car Saturday morning. The accident occured around 1 a.m. on the 500 block of Hennepin Avenue. Witnesses report Uzong veered her car toward Horton as she tried to get out of the way. Uzong’s car hit Horton, and Horton was dragged. Horton has been hospitalized in serious condition and Uzong has been charged with first-degree assault and jailed.

Billy Weaver, 45 died while waiting at a Metro Station bus stop at 45th and Lyndale Avenue in Minneapolis, Minnesota after an SUV driven by a woman crashed through it. The SUV driver went on to hit a parked car at nearby McDonald’s. The female drivers identity has not been released, and she was not believed to be under the influence.

An off-duty Minneapolis police officer was working at a nearby business and witnessed the accident. After ensuring that Cruz-Guzman was receiving aid, the officer pursued the driver in a marked squad for a few blocks. According to police records, Conway has several criminal convictions for driving offenses, including underage drinking and driving, driving with an open bottle, driving after revocation and fourth-degree DWI. Cruz-Guzman is in the hospital with a skull fracture and severe brain injury.

A west metro woman who died after she was run over by a car Thursday night has been identified.

Police say 57-year-old Diane Meder was hit along Arcola Lane in the City of Minnetonka Beach around 8:30 p.m. She was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center, where she died from her injuries, according to the Orono Police Department.

Her husband, 57-year-old David Meder, was behind the wheel of the car that hit her, police say. He has been booked into the Hennepin County Jail for criminal vehicular operation resulting in a death.
