A west metro woman who died after she was run over by a car Thursday night has been identified.

Police say 57-year-old Diane Meder was hit along Arcola Lane in the City of Minnetonka Beach around 8:30 p.m. She was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center, where she died from her injuries, according to the Orono Police Department.

Her husband, 57-year-old David Meder, was behind the wheel of the car that hit her, police say. He has been booked into the Hennepin County Jail for criminal vehicular operation resulting in a death.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but alcohol may have been a factor, police say. Minnetonka Beach is a town located on a peninsula on Lake Minnetonka.
