A man was driving on Mentor Avenue when he swerved suddenly and struck another vehicle which was traveling the same direction. The man's vehicle then crossed the roadway and went into the parking lot of a local flower shop, hitting the building. He was rushed to a local medical center but was pronounced dead. The driver's identity has not yet been released.

A female driver died after her vehicle collided with a Mentor school bus carrying 11 high school students on Thursday. No one on the bus was injured. The car of Jennifer T. Cribbs, 62, and the bus crashed at 6:38 a.m. at Johnny Cake Ridge and Garfield roads. It has not yet been determined which driver was at fault. Cribbs, of Mentor, was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, where she died. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call Mentor police at 440-974-5760.

Jerry D. Cahn, a 78-year-old taxi driver, left his cab along U.S. 20 near Blase Nemeth Road and ran out in to traffic. He was struck by a Volkswagon Jetta, and then taken to a local medical center where he succumbed to his injuries. Investigators are currently unsure why Cahn decided to leave his vehicle, but they do not believe alcohol was involved. More information will be posted as it is released.

Bobby Dean West Jr., of Dayton,  was walking in the right eastbound lane of U.S. Route 20, just west of Narrow Road, shortly before midnight, when an oncoming vehicle driven by Robert M. Storozum, 49, hit him. West Jr. may have been under the influence of alcohol.

A car that was being pursued by police crashed and then flipped in a residential neighborhood. It is unknown if anyoe involved sustained injuries, but the suspect was successfully apprehended. No other details have been released yet.

The Wickliffe Police Department responded to a reported car accident Sunday morning at the Shell gas station. Upon arrival, police found 34-year-old Benjamin Scholes at the scene of the accident. Scholes admitting to losing control of his vehicle on a patch of ice. Scholes' blood alcohol content was a .189. He was arrested and charged with OVI failure to control. He was released after posting a $3,500 bond. Police say the canopy of the gas station and gas pump received extensive damage from the crash.

An Eastlake woman was arrested after police say she crashed her vehicle into a post office while driving drunk.

A passer-by alerted Willoughby Police around 2:35 a.m. Monday reporting that a vehicle struck Willoughby Post Office on Erie Avenue.

Police said they responded to the scene to find Jamie Capper, 32, sitting in the driver’s side of her white GMC SUV, attempting to restart it. Capper’s vehicle appeared to have struck a pillar connected to the awning of the post office, causing apparent damage.

Madison Village Police Department responded to motor vehicle accident on N.Lake St in Madison Village Friday. Karen Saeger, 55 of Madison Village was involved in a single vehicle crash. Saeger lost control of the vehicle and went off the right side of the road, across a sidewalk, through a small ditch before striking a large tree head on. Saeger was taken to Lake Madison Emergency room where she died. The investigation is ongoing.

Madison Police report that one man died and a baby was taken to the hospital after a one-car crash at S. Ridge Road and Townline Road. The crash happened just after 3 p.m. A 19-year-old man was ejected from the car and found dead at the scene, police said. The 1-year-old was taken to Hillcrest Hospital, then flown to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, police said. The crash remains under investigation.

One person is dead and another is seriously injured after their vehicle crashed into a tree early Friday morning.

It happened along East 290th Street in Wickliffe.

According to police, the driver Timothy Roper, age 40, was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he later died.

The passenger Dominick Gromek Jr. 35 was flown to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident is still under investigation, but police said speed was a factor.
