An Eastlake woman was arrested after police say she crashed her vehicle into a post office while driving drunk.

A passer-by alerted Willoughby Police around 2:35 a.m. Monday reporting that a vehicle struck Willoughby Post Office on Erie Avenue.

Police said they responded to the scene to find Jamie Capper, 32, sitting in the driver’s side of her white GMC SUV, attempting to restart it. Capper’s vehicle appeared to have struck a pillar connected to the awning of the post office, causing apparent damage.

Officers also said Capper’s eyes were blood shot red and the 32-year-old claimed to have no idea that an accident had just occurred.

Police also detected a strong odor of alcohol on the suspect.

Capper was taken into custody after failing a sobriety test. Her blood alcohol level tested at 0.152.
