Motorcyclist Nicholas Dopkewas westbound on Del Mar Boulevard about 1:30 p.m. Sunday when he collided with a vehicle turning east from Meridith Avenue. Dopke was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

A brother and sister died Thursday in a crash that is being investigated as a street race. The crash occurred on W. Pacific Coast Highway near Island Avenue at about 3:00 p.m.  Up to three other people were injured in the collision. Nearby surveillance video shows a red car and a truck speeding with the red car traveling in opposing lanes of traffic prior to the crash. Brother and sister Lexi and Eli Garcia were killed instantly. The other occupants were taken to the hospital, along with the driver of a van. Their condition is unknown at the time of this report.

Though all passengers were wearing seat belts, two men and one woman were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. One man had life-threatening injuries and another man had minor injuries, and both were airlifted to local hospitals. “It was an off-road area and the driver was apparently doing some kind of off-road style driving and lost control of his vehicle,” CHP Officer Eric Priessman said. “We don’t know if alcohol played a role in the crash, but we are still looking at that possibility.”

Aldzhikyan was ejected from his vehicle after it left the road, struck a lamppost and then a business sign. The car did not have seatbelts. A teenage boy suspected of involvement in the crash was in custody today and facing homicide charges.

Two College of the Canyons football players were killed Friday in a car crash that also left a third football player in critical condition, college officials confirmed. The deceased victims were identified as Isaiah Hastings, 19, of Lancaster, and Alexander Manu, 18, of Reseda. The surviving victim was identified as Eldridge Salguero, 18, of Van Nuys. “We’re grieving the loss of two student-athletes whose lives and potential were tragically cut short,” said COC Chancellor Dr. Dianne Van Hook, who gave her annual pre-season address to the team last week.

A 19-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning when a wrong-way driver suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol collided with his car on the westbound 210 Freeway in Azusa.

Justin Romo, 19, of El Monte, was killed in the collision. A 16-year-old passener sustained moderate injuries and was taken to County-USC Medical Center, according to California Highway Patrol.
