Linda Finney-Drew, 55, was hit and killed while walking on East Sanders Street near Martin Luther King Boulevard in Vian about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday with her friend, Candy Shade. Elton Darrell Vanzant, 74, was driving west when his vehicle left the roadway and re-entered, hitting Finney-Drew and clipping Shade, before leaving the scene. Finney-Drew was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Muldrow woman riding on a motorcycle died in a crash Tuesday in Sequoyah County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports.
Peggy Sue Taylor, 63, died in the wreck about 7:40 p.m. on U.S. 59, about 3 miles south of Sallisaw.
Taylor was riding on a motorcycle driven by Jimmie Lovell, 72, of Muldrow. Lovell was taken to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark., where he was admitted with internal and external trunk injuries, the patrol reported.
An Arkansas woman was killed Friday in a crash on Interstate 40 in Sequoyah County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
Jana Dennis, 34, of Van Buren, Ark., was riding in a Ford F-150 shortly after 7 a.m. when the pickup ran off the road and rolled three times. Dennis was partially ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, Joel Burrough, 35, also of Van Buren, was thrown from the truck and was taken to Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith, Ark., in critical condition, according to the patrol.
