Raleigh police say a teenager died early Sunday afternoon after his scooter hit a curb.

Elijah Ijah McLendon, 19, was traveling on a dirt bike then the wreck happened in the 5400 block of Dana Drive around 1:30 p.m.

Witnesses who rushed to help McLendon said he had been riding back and forth at what appeared to a high rate of speed when it appeared he hit something and lost control of the vehicle.

It's unclear whether McLendon was wearing a helmet. Witnesses said they found one not far from where the accident happened.

A teenager died in a single-car crash Sunday on Hull Avenue in Marshall County.

Lewisburg police say 17-year-old Brice Carr was pronounced deceased on the scene after his truck swerved off the road and hit a tree.

According to police, at about 11:30 a.m. Carr lost control of the truck because of the slick road conditions.

Neighbors say the road is dangerous and this isn't the first wreck they have seen over the years.

A Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputy responding to a crash on I-94 was injured when a driver behind him lost control around 10:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the sheriff's department.

The deputy, with 16 years on the force, was treated at a hospital for back and neck pain, according to a news release, which does not name the deputy or the hospital.

A woman crashed a car into two pillars at a fire station near Spring Valley, injuring her female passenger, a Cal Fire San Diego spokesman said Sunday.

The crash occurred at 10 p.m. Saturday at San Miguel Fire District Station 16 at 905 Gillespie Drive, said a Cal Fire-San Diego County Fire Authority Battalion Chief.

One pillar was destroyed and another was damaged, he said. No firefighters were injured. The damage did not require firefighters to leave the building.

A woman was found dead Sunday in a car that went off state Route 67 north of Lakeside, authorities said.

The crash was on SR-67, about 200 yards south of Lazy Acres Drive, about a half mile south of the Scripps Poway Parkway intersection.

It was reported at 7:18 a.m., however California Highway Patrol officials said a witness who heard the crash said it occurred about 12:30 a.m.

The vehicle, a black Honda sedan, reportedly went over the side of the road.

The driver was declared dead at the scene, a Heartland Fire & Rescue dispatcher said.

A woman who survived a car crash in north Houston was killed in another accident moments after the initial crash, according to witnesses.

The first accident happened around 2 a.m. Sunday on the North Loop near the North Freeway. Police said the woman was taking the exit ramp when she lost control of her car and crashed into a barricade.

Then for some reason, police said the driver got out of her car and stood on the freeway.

A 27-year-old man was hit and killed at Bell Road and 19th Avenue early Sunday morning, police said.

The Phoenix Police Department said the man was walking across Bell Road northbound in the cross walk against the "Don't Walk" signal, when he was hit by a 1993 Lincoln Mark 8.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Lincoln was evaluated and showed no signs of impairment.

A 4-year-old boy was killed in a crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway Sunday evening.

The crash occurred about 5:20 p.m. in the northbound lanes on the expressway near 87th Street, authorities said.

The boy was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:25 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
The boy’s name was withheld Sunday evening.

Two people were killed early Sunday in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 98 North in Lakeland.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. on a two-lane stretch between Rockridge and Socrum Loop roads.

According to a Polk County Sheriff’s Office report a 2006 Toyota Scion driven by 19-year-old Eric Rocco Russo of Lakeland was traveling south approaching the intersection of Big Cypress Blvd.

Several people are injured following a serious two-car crash in Waterbury early Sunday morning.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday when two cars collided near the intersection of Cherry Street and North Elm Street in Waterbury.

As many as six people were inside the cars, many of which are listed in critical condition, according to police. Some were taken to Saint Mary's Hospital, others to Waterbury Hospital.

The victims have not been identified.
