Just before 10:00pm, a 45-year-old man driving on Highway 20 crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old man head-on. Both drivers sustained multiple fractures in the collision, but the 45-year-old man was knocked unconsious and had injuries that were considered life-threatening, while the 18-year-old man was conscious but still in serious condition. We will update this accident as more information is released.

At about 5:30pm Rector was apparently having trouble with the breaks on his logging truck when he got out of the vehicle to inspect it. Unfortunately, something caused the truck to roll and it struck Rector, leaving him dead at the scene.

At around 9:00am, an 80-year-old man was driving a car with three other passengers southbound on I-5 when he lost control of the vehicle and it departed the roadway and rolled over. All four occupants of the vehicle were removed from the vehicle and taken to the hospital, though all injuries appeared to minor. We will update this accident as more information is released.

At about 9:00pm, a group of transients was near the train tracks at Riverside Drive when a train was approaching. The group all attempted to cross the tracks before the train arrived, but one 28-year-old man was struck by the train, taken to the hospital, and pronounced dead shortly thereafter. A convenience store owner in Sedro-Woolley died Thursday night after confronting a young man who stole beer. She was subsequently run over following an altercation in the parking lot.  She died at the scene.  Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or Sedro-Woolley Police Department at 360-428-3211.

Three people were killed and two others injured in an early morning crash Friday on Highway 20 in Skagit County. The two car head-on crash happened around 5:10 a.m. near Hamilton Cemetery Rd E in Sedro-Woolley. The dead were identified as Frederick Brand, 65, of Concrete; Nicole A. Washington, 23, of Sedro-Wooley; and Megan L. Brown, 21, of Bellingham. The injured - Alfredo Navarro Jr., 19, of Mount Vernon, and Quinnton A. Baxter, 22, of Burlington — were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

A 6-year-old Lynden boy was killed in a one-car crash Monday afternoon on Highway 11 near Bow in Skagit County. Zachary Conzo was riding in a car, driven by his mother, which left the highway on a hairpin curve, overturned and landed on its top about 40 feet below in Oyster Creek. The mother, 35-year-old Kristin Conzo of Lynden, was critically injured and flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

A Washington State Patrol trooper was taken to the hospital for minor injuries after a five-car collision on the slick roads of Interstate 5 Tuesday morning. Just before 6 a.m., the trooper was northbound on I-5 responding to a report of a car in the median on the left side of the freeway just south of Bow Hill Road. When the trooper pulled her vehicle over to the right shoulder to assist, she noticed a second vehicle in the ditch on the right side. A third vehicle then slid and crashed into the second one.

At least 20 boats docked at the Shelter Bay Marina in La Conner went up in flames Friday afternoon. The fire started sometime after 4 p.m., and thick plumes of black smoke were visible miles away.  Skagit County firefighters are on scene and working to extinguish the fires from land and with help from a fire boat. The marina has a total of 10 docks, and Franklin said the fire quickly spread from the J dock to others.

Charges are pending for suspected intoxicated driver who crashed into a Washington State Patrol vehicle, seriously injuring her passenger. According to a State Patrol memo, 44-year-old Joanna Kasner of Arlington was driving with her brother, Timothy, in a 2002 Saturn Vue westbound on Highway 20 shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday near mile post 73. A marked patrol vehicle, travelling westbound ahead of the Saturn spotted a driver going eastbound. Trooper Jeffrey Meldrum activated his emergency lights and performed a U-turn to pursue.
