Police said the group all appeared to be transients. One was a 22-year-old woman, but the ages and identities of the other two are not known, police said.

Witnesses said the man was with another man and two women, and the group was “playing around” near a set of rail crossing gate arms just before an Amtrak passenger train heading northbound approached, according to the police.
At about 9:00pm, a group of transients was near the train tracks at Riverside Drive when a train was approaching. The group all attempted to cross the tracks before the train arrived, but one 28-year-old man was struck by the train, taken to the hospital, and pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
