Shortly before 11:30 p.m., a Chevrolet Blazer overturned along the northbound lanes of Intersate 59. The male driver of the vehicle was injured. Amanda Bankston, who was eight months pregnant at the time of the accident, died of the injuries she sustained, along with her fetus. A two-year-old child who was in a car seat was not hurt in the crash. Police are not yet certain what caused the driver to lose control.

A 14-foot flat boat capsized on the Pearl River Canal about 5:30 p.m. Saturday near Sun, Louisiana. Terry J. O'Keefe Jr., 41, who was driving the boat, was found deceased about 8 a.m. Sunday. Jonie R. Morgan, 31, the mother of three, remained missing as of early Sunday afternoon. The aluminum boat capsized while going over a lock after O'Keefe was unable to start the boat's engines.

A 21-month old child was playing in the driveway at his house when his cousin, Derrick Populus, struck him with a car. Populus notified the family that the child had been injured, and then left the scene, failing to mention that he was the one that hit him. The boy was airlifted to a children's hospital in critical condition. Populus was later arrested for felony hit and run.

Rodney Varnado, of Bogalusa, was driving a 12-foot flat boat with five other people, three of whom were his grandsons, when the boat began taking on water and one of Varnado’s grandsons went overboard, officials said. Varnado jumped in the water and was able to return the boy to the boat, but then the boat's rocking caused the other passengers to fall overboard. The passengers made it ashore, then realized that Varnado was missing, and his body was discovered underwater after about five to 10 minutes.

A 15-year-old boy was critically injured after being hit by an SUV while biking Saturday afternoon in Mandeville. The boy was flown to University Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. Around 2 p.m., Stephanie Hammer, 33, of Madisonville, traveled East on Monroe Street when the boy, traveling North on Lafayette Street, crossed her path and was struck.
