Authorities said the man whose truck was hit by a train Thursday night is facing a DUI charge. The light rail Sprinter was carrying 37 passengers when it struck an empty truck near Vista. The driver of the truck said it stalled on the tracks and he apparently tried to warn the oncoming Sprinter train by waving it down. However, the train struck and heavily damaged the truck. None of the people on the train or the vehicle driver were hurt.

A woman has been arrested after crashing her car into a 7 Eleven store in South Austin Thursday evening. Police say it happened around 5:30 p.m. at the 7 Eleven at South Lamar Boulevard and Barton Skyway. Officials say there don't appear to be any injuries. The woman has been arrested and charged with DWI. Police have not yet released her name.

A state police trooper is facing drunken driving charges after crashing his police cruiser in Ashford last week, according to state police. A State police spokesman said 43-year-old David Lavoie crashed on Route 44 in Ashford shortly after midnight Wednesday. Lavoie’s police cruiser was heavily damaged and the trooper was injured. He was treated Windham Hospital. After his release, Lavoie was charged with drunken driving and failure to maintain a lane, Vance said. A sergeant responding to the crash took Lavoie’s handgun and other police equipment, according to state police.

Eleven people in a sport utility vehicle were critically injured in a crash that occurred at Berta Road and Shelby Drive on Tuesday night. At least two of the adults were taken to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis in critical condition. Eight children were taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital where they were being treated and assessed, according to Le Bonheur spokeswoman Sara Burnett.

Police say a man was driving under the influence of alcohol when he lost control of his car early Tuesday morning and ended up crashing into a home. The vehicle was traveling down Bonita Drive just after 2:30 a.m. when it ran off the road and hit a house in the 200 block of Brighton Circle. According to a police spokesman, Julio Royal, 30, of Bonita Drive, was driving the car. Police said there was significant damage to the house and the vehicle, but Royal’s injuries were minor. He was charged with DUI.

Officials say a man crashed into a utility task vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol. Indiana Conservation Officers say 62-year-old Glen Rush was driving on County Road 350 North in Johnson County around 3:30 p.m. Sunday when he struck a UTV attempting to cross the road. Rush subsequently struck a mailbox made of mortar and brick. No one was seriously injured in the crash, but officials have determined Rush was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He is facing an OWI charge and was taken to the Johnson County Jail.

New Hampshire authorities say they believe alcohol was a factor in a snowmobile crash that severely injured a Lancaster man. New Hampshire Fish and Game says 40-year-old Michael Vashaw was riding alone around 10:30 a.m. Sunday when he failed to make it around a turn and fell off his machine. He was taken to Weeks Memorial Hospital and then Dartmouth-Hitchcock medical center for severe but not life-threatening injuries.

Smyrna police say an 8-month-old baby was killed and two other children were injured when a man accused of drunk driving crashed into a taxi head on. Authorities say Darren Curry has been charged with driving under the influence and vehicular homicide in the Sunday morning crash on Windy Hill Road. Police have said the baby and two children, ages 3 and 7, were riding with Curry. The 3-year-old suffered critical head injuries and the 7-year-old was also injured. Curry's relationship with the children is unclear.

A man suspected of being drunk and high on marijuana reportedly caused a head-on collision early today on Government Way at Houston Road. David J. Rogers, 29, was driving a Dodge pickup west on Government Way at 2:30 a.m. when the truck crossed the center line and hit a Mitsubishi Outlander head on. Rogers and his 32-year-old passenger were ejected through the windshield and seriously injured. The 21-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi also received serious injuries. Deputies believe Rogers was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana.

A woman was arrested for DUII after she pulled a U-turn and crashed into cops early Saturday morning, police said. Around 3:20 a.m., 25-year-old Aphinity Marday Jumping Bull was driving west on North Lombard Street near Commercial Avenue with officers right behind her, said a Sgt. with Portland police. Jumping Bull pulled a U-turn in her 2004 Chevy Impala and slammed into the police car. She then drove off but only made it to North Kerby Avenue before her car broke down, Simpson said.
