10-year-old boy struck and injured by a hit-and-run vehicle on Norwich Avenue in Norwich, Connecticut

Police have arrested a driver for a hit-and-run incident in Norwich Friday night. Officers responded to 159 Norwich Ave where a 10-year-old child was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene just before 7:00 p.m. According to police, the child suffered a leg injury and was taken to William W. Backus Hospital. His injuries are non-life threatening. The driver, Theresa Morgan of Norwich, was arrested a short time later after the accident. Morgan is charged with evading responsibility and released on a $2,500 bond. She is scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on March 11th.

6-year-old boy died and three other people were hospitalized Friday following a wrong-way car crash on Interstate 5 just north of Vancouver. The accident happened just before 2 p.m. when an 84-year-old Vancouver man driving south in the northbound portion of I-5 crashed head-on into a car driven by a La Center woman who had two children in her vehicle. A mother behind the wheel of a minivan that was driven with her three children into the surf off Daytona Beach, Fla., is undergoing a mental evaluation. The Volusia County Sheriff's Office also said Wednesday that the children were turned over to the care of the Florida Department of Children and Families. Bystanders and officers helped pull the woman, later identified as Ebony Wilkerson, and her children - ages 3, 9 and 10 - from their minivan after it became nearly submerged in the Atlantic surf Tuesday afternoon.

A man from Byron Center was killed in a three-vehicle crash that happened Thursday afternoon on the east side of the state. Dick Allen Versendaal, 76, was killed when his SUV hit a pickup truck around 3:30 p.m. on Van Dyke Avenue in Bruce Township, which is about 40 miles north of Detroit. Witnesses said Versendaal was driving the wrong way on the street when hit the pickup head-on, according to Michigan State Police.

Emergency personnel were on the scene of a crash Thursday morning where two children were struck by a school bus, police dispatchers said. A trooper discovered that a 2001 four-door Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was traveling east near 568 East Crothersville Road when it suddenly crossed into the eastbound lane, hitting a tree on the north side of the road. It then flipped into the ditch. A passerby discovered the crash when he got out of his vehicle to move the tree that had been struck by the pickup truck. Sgt. Jerry Goodin with ISP said the passerby heard children yelling for help, so he walked to the edge of the roadway and saw the overturned truck.

Several HISD high school students were injured in a bus crash Tuesday morning, the district said. The accident happened just before 8 a.m. in the 7800 block of Lawn Street in southeast Houston. Investigators are trying to figure out who is at fault in this crash, which sent eight people to the hospital. The bus was transporting kids to Reagan High School when HISD police say the bus collided with a Chevy Suburban at the intersection of Lawn at Fair. Officers say that collision caused several students to fall out of their seats. Five students were transported to the hospital.

The incident occurred on the grounds of the Christ the King Catholic School near North Pennsylvania Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard, where the boy was a student, officers said.
