Astagfarr Ahmath, 23, of Olympia was driving a 1997 Honda CRV north on state Route 3, one mile north of Shelton, when he missed a turn at 10:22 a.m. Ahmath allegedly tried to turn around and backed over an embankment. Gig Harbor man is under arrest after his SUV collided with a motorcycle Saturday night and he allegedly fled the accident. The motorcyclist died at the scene near Purdy. The accident happened on State Route 302 in the 14500 block around 11 p.m. Saturday. The SUV was northbound on SR 302 with the motorcycle heading southbound in the opposite direction. The SUV turned left, colliding with the motorcycle. The SUV driver, a 43-year-old man, drove off from the accident scene. The State Patrol was able to locate and arrest the man about 3 1/2 hours later.
