A SUV that had been carjacked crashed into a Metrobus in Southwest Washington on Monday morning, officials say. The crash happened near the intersection of Joliet Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue Soutwhest, MPD officials say, where a stopped A4 bus was hit by the fleeing vehicle. A person is in custody, officials say. Two bus riders claimed minor injuries. The driver of the Metrobus was not injured.

A fatal crash on the northbound lanes of I-295 in the District shut down traffic along a stretch of that interstate earlier Tuesday morning. Continue reading Police said they responded to a call for the accident at 11:46 p.m. Monday night. A police spokesman said the victim was an adult male whose Chevrolet Camaro rolled over into a wooded area near the road. He was found unresponsive by officers and had to be extricated from the car. The victim was transported to Prince George's Hospital Center, where he was declared dead shortly after midnight on Tuesday.

A man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was struck while crossing the street in Southeast D.C. Monday. Crews responded to the intersection of Stanton Road and Suitland Parkway around 6 p.m. Police say a car, possibly a gold Nissan, struck a pedestrian then fled from the scene.

A 90-year-old woman was hit and killed by a car Wednesday as she walked near the Southwest Waterfront, officials say. Frances Margaret Parsons, 90, was hit by a car Wednesday afternoon while she walked near the access ramp of a parking garage in the 700 block of 7th Street SW. Parsons was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later passed away.

Frances M. Parsons 90, was struck and killed by a SUV Wednesday while walking a dog outside a Southwest Washington apartment building, D.C. police said. The accident occurred near the entrance to a parking garage at Town Square Towers at 7th and G streets SW about 3:15 p.m., police said. The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead, said a police spokesman. Authorities were investigating the cause of the crash. The dog was not injured, police said.
