A man died after being caught between a car and a tree, according to Spartanburg County coroner Rusty Clevenger.

Clevenger said James Bryan Green, 32, of Inman, was found next to his 2011 Chevy Corvette on Lake Front Road just after 11 p.m. Thursday.

Clevenger said it appears the car’s manual transmission was in neutral, began to roll and Green tried to stop the car with his body.

He said the vehicle ran into a tree.

Clevenger said Green was able to free himself between the car and tree, and then died.

One person is dead after a car crossed the highway and overturned Thursday afternoon, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The accident happened on U.S. 25 north of Travelers Rest just before 4:30 p.m., said troopers.

According to troopers, the SUV was heading south on U.S. 25 when it ran off the left side of the road crossed the median and then crossed both northbound lanes.

Troopers said the car then traveled down an embankment and overturned.

Two brothers were taken to the hospital after a car ended up under a tractor-trailer in Greenville County Thursday night, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers.

Troopers said the wreck at happened 11:15 p.m. on Bruce Road at White Horse Road.

They said Timothy McClellan was driving a 2002 Sebring at a high rate of speed on Bruce Road and drove under a tractor-trailer that was turning left onto Bruce Road.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said a wreck on Easter Sunday killed a 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old man.

According to state troopers, the accident happened as a pickup truck was traveling north on Mt. Zion Road just outside of Wellford early Sunday morning.

The truck went off the left side of the road, over-corrected, went off the right side of the road and hit a tree, troopers said.

The truck's driver and a passenger were killed in the crash, and two other passengers in the truck were injured.

State troopers said an 11-year-old boy was killed in a deadly wreck near Pendleton.

According to the highway patrol, the wreck happened at 4:35 p.m. Saturday on Cherry Street Extension near Danehower Road.

State troopers said a vehicle traveling south on Cherry Street Extension lost control, went off the left side of the road and crashed into a tree.

Two other people in the vehicle were taken to AnMed Hospital. There is no update on their condition.

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office says one of its deputies has been involved in a wreck. They say a deputy was driving a patrol car and had a reserve officer with him when the vehicle collided with a pickup truck just before midnight Saturday morning on Clemson Boulevard in front of Tucker's Restaurant. According to investigators the pickup was traveling in the opposite direction as the patrol car.

A 25-year-old man is dead after an accident near downtown Greenville, according to the Greenville County Coroner's Office.

Coroner Parks Evans said Kendrick Jamarkis Brockman died after he lost control of his Nissan Altima in the 1500 block of Main Street and hit several trees in the median.

The accident happened at 12:35 a.m. Friday.

Evans said the vehicle crossed over the median and landed in the southbound lane.

Brockman died at the scene from blunt force trauma to the head, Evans said.

Evans said Brockman was not wearing a seat belt.

The Cherokee County coroner says a 73-year-old Gaffney woman injured in a single motor vehicle collision last week has passed away.

The coroner identified the victim as Rachel Lail Smith.

According to the coroner, Smith was injured on the morning of April 17 when the SUV she was driving ran off the road and struck an embankment.

Smith was transported to Novant Health Gaffney Medical Center following the collision and later transferred to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

A Warrenville man has died after being struck by Norfolk Southern train this morning in Aiken County. Coroner Tim Carlton identified the deceased as Robert Norman Bisou, 32. Aiken County sheriff’s Capt. Eric Adbullah said Norfolk Southern contacted the sheriff’s office around 4:15 a.m. after the train struck Bisou near Carter Street and Bath Lake Road in Warrenville.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said one man died after a wreck in Pickens County Saturday at about 7:15 p.m.

The Pickens County Coroner identified the victims as 30-year-old Aaron Anthony Eskew of Anderson.

Troopers said a Kia Sorento traveling east on Queen Street near Clemson ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree. The driver and a passenger were transported to a hospital with injuries and Eskew died on the scene.

Kelley said Eskew was wearing a seat belt. He died of blunt force trauma, the coroner said.
