A man was taken to the Shelby County Jail Monday morning after police say he crashed his car into a school bus and was intoxicated. Police say around 7:41 a.m., a vehicle driven by Jeffrey Ward was heading westbound on Polk approaching Tompkins. The Shelbyville Central School bus, which was carrying seven children and the bus driver, was heading southbound on Tompkins at Polk Street when the driver saw Ward approaching and noticed he wasn’t slowing down. According to a release, the bus driver tried to alert Ward by honking her horn, but Ward didn’t slow down or stop for the stop sign.

A man riding a moped was killed in a collision with another vehicle Tuesday night. Daniel Bruce Frost, 66, of Burlington, was killed around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Church Street and Gurney Street. Frost was driving a 2009 Honda moped west on South Church Street when he collided with a 2008 Chevrolet going north on Gurney Street, Burlington police said. Frost was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car wasn't injured. The investigation continues. Two witnesses told police Frost ran a red light.

Eight children were hurt after police say a teen driver ran a stop sign in Egg Harbor Township. A 17-year-old boy was driving a 2010 Acura TSX west on Zion Road shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Monday. At the same time, a 17-year-old girl was driving a Chevy Trailblazer south on Larch Avenue. As she turned left onto Zion Road, the girl allegedly failed to yield at the stop sign and collided with the Acura. Police say eight children were hurt in the crash. All of the victims were taken to local hospitals and are being treated for moderate injuries.

A Las Vegas woman who died in a three-car wreck Sunday has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office. A 17-year-old driver ran a red light and struck Nneka Geter-Easterling, 42, in her Mustang. The Mustang spun and collided with another car, according to police. Geter-Easterling died on the scene, and two teenage occupants in the Mustang were transported to University Medical Center with severe injuries. The drivers of the other cars were not injured. This is the eighth traffic fatality in Las Vegas police’s jurisdiction in 2014.

Eight people were injured in a crash Monday morning in the Fuller Park neighborhood. A 29-year-old woman driving a minivan west on 43rd Street ran a red light and smashed into a sedan carrying seven people heading north on LaSalle Street around 1:30 a.m., authorities said. A Fire Department spokesperson said three adults were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious to critical condition, two adults were taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in stable condition, and three children were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in stable condition.
