A 29-year-old woman driving a minivan west on 43rd Street ran a red light and smashed into a sedan carrying seven people heading north on LaSalle Street around 1:30 a.m., authorities said.
A Fire Department spokesperson said three adults were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious to critical condition, two adults were taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in stable condition, and three children were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in stable condition.
Police said alcohol might have been a factor in the crash. However, no charges or traffic citations had been filed as of early Monday.
