One person was flown to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash in Queen Creek on Wednesday afternoon.

The driver of one car was airlifted to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center, but the other driver, who only had minor injuries, choose not to go to a hospital, said a spokeswoman with the town of Queen Creek.

One of the cars involved in the wreck near Ocotillo and Hawes roads hit a power pole due to the crash and SRP went to secure the pole, she said.

One man is dead and a 15-year-old driver is in custody after a scooter and motor vehicle collided in Mesa. The accident at Alma School and University was initially treated as a hit-and-run. Mesa police say the unidentified teen appears to have only had a learner's permit to drive and could be facing charges for fleeing the scene after the Wednesday afternoon accident. The name of the victim, who was in his 20s, has not yet been released.

A man in a wheelchair died after being struck by a vehicle heading eastbound on University Drive in Tempe early Wednesday morning, police said. The collision forced police to close University Drive near Loop 101, according to Tempe police. The man, 60, hit and at about 6:15 a.m. and died on scene near University and George drives, according to Sgt. Michael Pooley, a Tempe police spokesman. Police said the driver, who was also an older man, was not impaired.
