Nearly two dozen students were injured in northeast Missouri on Tuesday when a school bus overturned in a ditch on a rural road near the Illinois border, the state Highway Patrol reported. The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday north of Ewing in Lewis County. The injured students attended Highland Elementary and Highland High schools in the Lewis County C-1 District. Missouri State Highway Patrol Lt. Brian Anderson said the bus rolled over into a ditch on a two-lane road with no shoulders. Eighteen students suffered minor injuries and five were more seriously hurt, he said.

Officials say a Hillsborough County school bus accident has occurred on Progress Blvd. in Riverview Friday afternoon. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue says the accident involved a Spoto High School bus and one other car. They say the driver of the car involved and one student were taken to the hospital. Five other students were evaluated for injuries at the scene. All students were over the age of 14. They say the injuries being treated on scene mostly consist of lower back injuries.

Emergency responders were called to the scene of a second JCPS bus crash Friday morning. One Waggener High School student was transported to a hospital, complaining of a neck injury after bus #0690 was sideswiped by a car at Shelbyville Road and Bramton Road around 6:30 a.m. The other 25 people aboard the bus refused treatment. Another JCPS bus crash around the same time Friday morning sent a handful of children to Kosair Children's Hospital with bumps and bruises.

A woman crossing the street was hit by a school bus carrying children in Guadalupe late Thursday afternoon. Maricopa County sheriff's deputies said the 32-year-old victim was in a crosswalk when the accident happened shortly after 5 p.m. near Priest and East Calle Iglecia. The woman broke a hip and was taken to Maricopa County Medical Center, MCSO said. She is expected to be OK. The driver was tested at the scene and impairment does not seem to be an issue, sheriff's deputies said. The children were put on another bus.

Authorities say three children were taken to a hospital for evaluation of minor injuries after an accident involving a school bus and a snow plow in Portsmouth. Police say the driver of a private plow failed to stop at the end of Middle Road and struck a school bus at the intersection of Union Street just before 8 a.m. Wednesday. There were as many as 55 students on the bus and three were taken to Newport Hospital. The uninjured students were put on another bus and continued on to school. The crash remains under investigation. No names were released.

A 64-year-old West Hartford teacher has died after her car and a school bus crashed at Boulevard and Mountain Road in West Hartford this morning, according to West Hartford police. Police had to extricate the driver, Patricia Rossoff, 64, of West Hartford, who was pronounced dead at UConn Medical Center. She was a teacher at Kingswood Oxford School, police said. School officials said she was with Kingswood Oxford for 39 years. She was a creative arts and modern languages teacher, as well as academic dean of humanities.

The band director at a high school in Jackson suffered fatal injuries in a crash with a school bus. Police said Michael Congiardo's car ran a red light and hit the bus Friday afternoon. He was leaving a school function at Madison Academic Magnet High School, where he is the band director. A man who saw Congiardo before the crash said the car also hit a fence. "I asked him if he was all right," said Dr. Keith Taylor, a Jackson physician. "He told me he was, and then he shot down the street and ran a red light."

A school bus swerving to avoid hitting a pair of deer has skidded off a road in rural LaSalle County and tipped onto its side, injuring the driver and two children. Sandwich School District 430 Superintendent said the bus was taking children to Lighted Way, a school for students with special needs in LaSalle. He says the driver swerved to avoid hitting two deer on U.S. Route 52 around 8 a.m. Friday. The bus skidded on loose gravel and toppled onto its side in a ditch.

Police are investigating a Wilbur school bus accident in New Castle County. Around 8:15 a.m. Thursday morning, a vehicle rear-ended the bus as it was getting ready to turn on to Wrangle Hill Road. Officials say 45 students were on the bus and 14 of them were sent to Christiana Hospital. The bus driver, Nichole Lambert, 26, and the driver of the other vehicle Madison Brooks, 23, were also taken for treatment. They were all treated and released.

A Polk County school bus accident sent 12 Crystal Lake Middle School students to the hospital Thursday morning with minor injuries. It happened around 8:10 a.m. at the intersection of South Crystal Lake Drive and US 98 in Lakeland. Alicia Delgado said it wasn't the collision that sent her running to the scene Thursday morning, but what she heard shortly after. Authorities say a Subaru was two cars behind a school bus carrying 30 Crystal Lake Middle School students.
