A Cullman man was killed in a wreck Friday morning just north of Jasper, according to Alabama State Troopers.

Jonathan Earl Kennedy, 26, was killed when the 2003 Nissan Sentra he was driving left the roadway on Russell Dairy Road five miles north of Jasper and hit a tree around 11:25 a.m., according to a news release from Trooper Curtis Summerville.

Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was not wearing a seat belt, according to Summerville.

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the crash.

A North Courtland woman died this morning after her car collided with an 18-wheeler traveling east on Alabama 20, officials said.

Yvonne Orr, 73, was pronounced dead at Lawrence Medical Center, the Lawrence County Coroner said.

Officials said Orr was driving a Toyota Corolla that was crossing Alabama 20 at Jesse Jackson Parkway.

The Corolla was lodged underneath the 18-wheeler’s trailer.

Traffic on Alabama 20 was stopped after the accident, but later resumed.

The accident occurred between 9 and 10 a.m. The scene was cleared about 11:15

A Covington County Sheriff's deputy who was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning is being identified as Deputy Heath Kelly, according to Alabama State Troopers. Troopers say Deputy Kelly was killed while on-duty when his patrol car and another vehicle crashed around 7:40 a.m. on Alabama Highway 55. The crash was near the intersection of Hwy. 55 and South Bypass. Troopers say Kelly was transported to Andalusia Regional Hospital where medical officials pronounced him dead.
