An 18-year-old Athens County man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Athens County on Monday. According the Athens post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on state Route 329, north of the Village of Stewart. Investigators say that Michael Allen Rood, 18, of Stewart, was driving a 1996 Saturn two-door vehicle north on S.R. 329 when he drove off the right side of the road, struck an embankment. The vehicle went airborne and struck a tree, coming to rest on its top. Rood was pronounced dead at the scene by the Athens County Coroner’s Office.

Authorities have identified the man who was killed in a crash in Pickaway County last weekend.

The Pickaway County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Danny Unger, 43, of Columbus.

The crash occurred on North Court Street in Circleville at about 3:10 p.m. Sunday.

According to deputies, a 2004 Chevy Cavalier was traveling north on North Court Street at a high rate of speed when the vehicle traveled into the middle of the roadway and struck a Norfolk and Southern Bridge abutment head on.

A 25-year-old Medina woman was killed overnight after a single vehicle crash in Grafton Township. Corrine Reid crashed her Jeep Liberty on Cowley Road near Crocker Road, at around 2:02 a.m. Saturday. Ohio State Highway troopers say Reid lost control of her SUV, causing it to strike a ditch and then overturn. The 25-year-old was ejected from the vehicle as it struck a utility pole and several trees before coming to a rest on its top. Reid was transported to the hospital, where she later died.

As police released new information on the hit and run driver who killed a motorcyclist, the victim’s heartbroken husband shared his story on Friday. Gayle Jackowski, 58, died Wednesday when the motorcycle she was on was hit by a driver who just kept going. Her husband of 39 years says she died in his arms, alongside Interstate 70 in Pickerington. In the peaceful, rolling hills of Belmont County, family isn't just defined by bloodline. "This is a small, loving community,” said Kim Mercer. "Everybody's family - blood or not." Tonight this is a family in mourning.

A man is dead after police say he was shot in his car and tried to drive away but hit a house in Springfield Township. Officials said the car ran into a home in the 10000 block of Sprucehill Drive about 6 p.m. Tuesday. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the car's driver suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Officers identified the victim as Anthony Hinton, 27. As police examined the aftermath of the deadly shooting, one mother told WLWT News 5's Jackie Congedo that her 7-year-old son saw it all.

An 8-year-old Virginia boy was killed when he and other members of his family were hit by a vehicle while walking in a Chagrin Falls intersection around noon today.

Eli Sachar, of Arlington, Virginia, died in Hillcrest Hospital. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office identified him this evening. Channel 3 News said his mother and father were also taken to the hospital.

Chagrin Falls police said a 62-woman was driving the vehicle that struck the family members at the intersection of Washington and Franklin streets. She was taken to Ahuja Medical Center.

Troopers are investigating a crash in Perry County that killed a man. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at about 12 a.m. Saturday, 21-year-old Mark E. Metzger, of Junction City Ohio, was driving a 1998 GMC truck southbound on Toll Gate Road, just south of U.S. 22 near Reading Township, when he lost control of his vehicle. Troopers say the truck traveled off the left side of the road and struck a tree. Metzger was partially ejected in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
