Virginia boy is killed while crossing street in Chagrin Falls with family members

Chagrin Falls police said a 62-woman was driving the vehicle that struck the family members at the intersection of Washington and Franklin streets.

An 8-year-old Virginia boy was killed when he and other members of his family were hit by a vehicle while walking in a Chagrin Falls intersection around noon today.

Eli Sachar, of Arlington, Virginia, died in Hillcrest Hospital. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office identified him this evening. Channel 3 News said his mother and father were also taken to the hospital.

Chagrin Falls police said a 62-woman was driving the vehicle that struck the family members at the intersection of Washington and Franklin streets. She was taken to Ahuja Medical Center.

Merchants in the area that could be contacted said they were unsure what happened. Streets were closed for about three hours after the accident.
