Raleigh-Durham, NCTwo people from Southern Pines were killed Friday night when a freight train collided with a vehicle in Morrisville. The crash happened at the railroad crossing at Morrisville Carpenter Road and Chapel Hill Road. The vehicle was trying to make a right hand turn onto Morrisville Carpenter Road. The train crashed into the car, dragging it more than a half-mile down the tracks.

Raleigh-Durham, NCA motorcyclist was killed Thursday night after a single-vehicle accident on South Wilmington Street between Mechanical Boulevard and the U.S. 70-401 split, Raleigh police reported.
The driver was identified as Edmanuel Jimenez Salgado, 19, of the 3600 block of Tuckland Drive in Raleigh.
A witness told police that the motorcycle and another vehicle were stopped at a red light on U.S. 70 and Mechanical Boulevard. When the light turned green, both vehicles accelerated, and the motorcyclist lost control and veered off the road.
