The pilot has died and three passengers are injured after a small-plane crash near the Boonville, Missouri, airport. The pilot, Charles Sojka of Salina, Kansas, was killed in the crash that happened around 9 a.m. Sunday. The three passengers were taken to University Hospital in Columbia. Their conditions weren’t known Sunday evening. Sojka was a flight instructor at Sojka Aviation. Check back for more information as it becomes available.

Wade Mathes, 39, was traveling on Highway 94 near Hinnah Lane when his vehicle left the roadway and overturned at about 1:00 a.m. Mathes was pronounced dead at the scene, and preliminary reports indicate that he was traveling too fast for weather conditions.

A priest was killed in a traffic accident while vacationing in Branson, Missouri. The Rev. Francis "Frank" Partusch was hit by a vehicle and killed. The accident happened just before 5 p.m. Monday on Missouri Highway 76. The 68-year-old Partusch had been pastor of St. Bridget-St. Rose Parish in Omaha. He'd also served at other Omaha parishes and at St. Michael's in South Sioux City.

Christian Dertinger was driving on Ely Lake Drive when he lost control of his vehicle and collided head-on with a car traveling the opposite direction. Dertinger and the driver of the other vehicle, Megan Paul, both suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and authorities report that one of them was hospitalized. Icy road conditions are to blame for this accident.

The Butler County crash happened just before 3:30 p.m. on Highway 53 when a car driven by Chelsea M. Hill ran off the road, overcorrected, and then slid into the path of a car driven by Cheryl M. Bader. Hill was ejected from her vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Bader suffered minor injuries and was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
