A 17-year-old died Friday in a single vehicle accident on Johnson Farm Road in Cumberland County. Brian Widhalm was driving on Johnson Farm Road near Eliot Farm Road at 3:20 p.m. Friday when the crash happened. Widhalm swerved off the side of the road, overcorrected, and collided with a tree on the left side on the road.

A teen from Wendell died late Thursday after a single-car accident on N.C. Highway 231 near Applewhite Road. Joseph Warren Early lost control of his vehicle at about 9:40 p.m. near Corinth Holders. The car departed the road, hit a ditch, a power pole, and then a tree. Early was ejected from the car, and died at the crash site.

Tiara Lashay Hinton was riding on Highway 64 in a car with three other teens when they collided with another vehicle. Hinton is confirmed dead, but the conditions of the other people involved are not currently known. The crash is still under investigation and more information will be posted once it is known.

Both siblings were transported to Duke University Hopsital, but Laura Yost had to have surgery for her injuries and was put into a medically induced coma. A statement was released Tuesday, September 23 indicating that she has passed away.

Erika Allyha Cogdell was attempting to turn left onto Bingham Drive from Greenock Avenue when her car collided with a sedan driven by Jason Lee. Lee and two passengers in his car were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No charges have been filed in the wreck. No other information was released.

A 16-year-old Middle Creek High School student is due in Wake County court Tuesday on a charge that he fled after a car he was driving sideswiped a school bus shortly after classes let out for the day Thursday. Cary police arrested Kenneth Austin Alexander at his home at 5632 Monarch Birch Drive, an Apex address in unincorporated Wake County, shortly before 5 p.m., arrest records show. Alexander was charged with failing to stop after an accident, careless and reckless driving and having more than one person under 21 in the car with him while he has a provisional driver’s license.
