A 16-year-old Middle Creek High School student is due in Wake County court Tuesday on a charge that he fled after a car he was driving sideswiped a school bus shortly after classes let out for the day Thursday.
A 16-year-old Middle Creek High School student is due in Wake County court Tuesday on a charge that he fled after a car he was driving sideswiped a school bus shortly after classes let out for the day Thursday. Cary police arrested Kenneth Austin Alexander at his home at 5632 Monarch Birch Drive, an Apex address in unincorporated Wake County, shortly before 5 p.m., arrest records show. Alexander was charged with failing to stop after an accident, careless and reckless driving and having more than one person under 21 in the car with him while he has a provisional driver’s license. The driver of the bus and two students were slightly injured, officials said. The driver and one student were taken to a hospital as a precaution, the school system said. The crash happened on Middle Creek Park Avenue shortly after classes dismissed at 2:18 p.m., a schools spokeswoman said. A magistrate released Alexander to his parents and on a $1,000 unsecured bond.
