Hans Rehder, 50, died in a single-car crash in Manchester Township Tuesday evening.  The car he was driving exited Austin Road and crashed into a utility pole. Rehder was extricated from his Pontiac Grand Am and ransported to the University of Michigan Hospital, where he later died.  What every family needs to know about wrongful death claims

At about 9:45 a.m., Robert DeBlock of South Lyon was driving in Ann Arbor Township from westbound M-14 to southbound US-23 when he lost control of his vehicle and left the travel lane. The vehicle flipped over, and DeBlock was ejected from the car through the sunroof. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Speed was a factor. He was the only person in the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt. What every family needs to know about wrongful death claims

Jamie Garcia, a 21-year-old graduate of Fenton High School, was struck and killed by a car as he was walking on Hickory Ridge Road. Police are still searching for the person responsible for his death. The incident is still under investigation.

A person was driving a vehicle near Strawberry Lake Road when they struck a tree and burst into flames. Fire crews were able to contain the blaze, but the person inside was declared dead at the scene. No other people appeared to be involved. The crash is still under investigation.

Police responded at about 3:25 p.m. on November 11 to the intersection of M-46 and Germania. A 1997 Buick LeSabre southbound on Germania failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of M-46 and crashed into an eastbound 2007 Jeep. Two backseat passengers of the Buick, Helen Kunkel and Vicky Doten, both from Ovid, were ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, as was the front-seat male passenger of the Buick, Louis Kunkel, also from Ovid. The Buick driver, Kenneth Doten, 73, from Ovid, is at Covenant Healthcare hospital in Saginaw and was listed in stable condition.

Sanilac County Sheriff's deputies arrested Laken Williams, 21, of Lexington on January 26 for the October 28, 2014, high-speed rollover crash on Roach Road west of Croswell Road in Lexington Township that killed 18-year-old Dakota Moore and 17-year-old Danielle Torrez. Williams was arraigned on two 15-year felony counts of reckless driving causing death; one count of false report of a felony and one high court misdemeanor count of lying to a peace officer. Williams originally claimed to be a passenger was the only survivor. The two teens were ejected from the vehicle and died.

The wreck reportedly occured at about 1 p.m. at the corner of Farfield and W. Six Mile, where the traffic lights were not operating. The D-DOT bus crossed the center line and hit a minivan head-on. Twelve people were injured on the bus, and a 17-year-old woman and 35-year-old man in the minivan were hurt in the crash.

A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian collision back on October 21 that killed Valarie Owen, 54, at the intersection of North Holly and Quick roads. Authorities received a call of female pedestrian lying unconscious in the road. Owen died while being transported to a local hospital. There were no witnesses, but broken car parts were found at the crash site. Holly Police obtained an arrest warrant for the man, yet unnamed,  for one count of leaving the scene of an accident causing death. Check back for more information as it becomes available.

A pedestrian bridge collapsed onto a Detroit freeway after a trash truck struck the overpass early Friday. The driver died at an area hospital. Rush hour traffic was severly delayed on M-39. Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was among the first drivers to stop at the scene on his way to the team's practice facility in Allen Park. He was picked up by team security.

Cortney Sheilds, the 23-year-old Detroit man accused of driving the Dodge Charger that struck 8-year-old Kamari Smith on May 19 and then sped off, is now charged with second-degree murder. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office added the charge Tuesday after it was learned that Smith succumbed to her injuries early Monday. Shields is also charged with reckless driving and failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing serious injury or death.
