Nordeen was driving a pickup truck north on Highway 7 at about 5:50pm when he crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head on with a southbound car containing two people, before a third vehicle finally struck the rear of Nordeen's pickup truck. The two people in the southbound car, identified as Madeline Stringer, 15, and Mary Stringer, 49, sustained serious injuries, and Madeline was airlifted to the hospital while Mary was taken by ambulance. Nordeen was also brought to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.

This accident happened at approximately 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of highways 18 and 65, south of McGrath in Aitkin County. Anthony R. Sundholm, 47, of McGrath was killed. Hospitalized with noncritical injuries were driver Peter P. Sarkisyan, 29, of Forest Lake, and Seth A. Millner, 27, of Roseville. Sarkisyan was driving west on Hwy. 18 and “failed to stop at the stop sign” at Hwy. 65, hitting northbound Millner’s car broadside.

Sometime in the morning, Waller was driving on Highway 2 with passenger Mae Line when he apparently suffered a medical emergency, speculated to be a heart attack, and crashed his vehicle into some trees. It was then that three people, identified as off–duty firefighter Robert Zobel, citizen Lacey Silgjord, and a retired Fredenberg firefighter named Mark Toms, discovered the wreck and found that Waller had no pulse.

Joan L. Eischen of Comfrey, Minnesota was killed when her northbound car slid on ice on County Road 16 and was struck by a southbound semi. The truck driver, Michael J. Lux, 60, of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota was not injured in the collision. The accident happened at around 8:50 a.m. Wednesday in southern Brown County.

At around 8 p.m. in southeastern Beltrami County, a pickup truck with an attached snowplow was driving north, while a 32-year-old man was walking south on the west side of the road with two other people. The victim ran across the southbound lane and into the path of the truck, and he was struck and killed. The driver of the truck did not see the man in time to stop. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.

According to the Duluth Police Department, at 10:15 Friday morning a Jeep Cherokee was traveling west on Grand Avenue when its driver lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic, and was struck by a Nissan Rogue. Then, a third vehicle struck the Jeep on the 8500 block of Grand Avenue. A 30-year-old Duluth man identifed as Brandon James Huseby was taken to Essentia Health-St. Mary's with life-threatening injuries, while a 28-year-old Duluth woman identified as Cassandra Mae Hancock was also taken St. Mary's with minor injuries.

It was about 7:00pm when Erding was driving home on an icy stretch of County Road 5 and lost control at a curve, which sent her car up and over an embankment and into the ice-filled Root River below. As her car filled with water, Erding quickly climbed onto the roof via the backseat and made the quick decision to walk on the pieces of floating ice to reach the shore, where she found help at a nearby farm house. A local sheriff said that wearing a seat belt was likely integral to Erdings survival and safety.
