Washington, DCD.C. Police are searching for the driver of a stolen minivan who struck a 22-year-old D.C. woman in the Shaw neighborhood Saturday night, severely injuring her.
The woman was crossing Rhode Island Avenue around 9:30 p.m. when she was struck by the van. Her injuries were so massive that she wasn't expected to survive at first.
She has now regained consciousness and spoke by phone from her hospital bed.
"After he hit me, he ran over me again, and I became unconscious. I know I felt afterward, 'I am dying,'" said the woman, who asked that her name not be used.

Chicago, ILA man is dead after he crashed during a high-speed police chase Wednesday morning in northwest Indiana.
He has been identified as Nicholas B. Moore, 26, of Gary, Ind., according to a release from the Lake County Coroner's office.
Merrillville police were chasing Moore after he carjacked a black Mercedes sedan shortly after 10 a.m., officers at the scene said.
Moore drove north into Gary, where police followed him onto Georgia Street and then north to Ridge Road (U.S. 6), where Merrillville police said they abandoned the pursuit.

Detroit, MI16-year-old boy was killed and two other people were injured after the stolen car they were in hit a pole during a police chase early Monday morning on Detroit’s east side, according to Detroit police.
The crash came after a reported carjacking at 1:55 a.m. in the area of Van Dyke and Outer Drive. A police patrol saw the 1994 Dodge Duster shortly afterward, and a pursuit ensued, Sgt. Michael Woody with Detroit Police Department said.

Atlanta, GAOne person died and two others were arrested late Tuesday morning after a speeding car crashed on Highway 78, according to DeKalb County police. Police say an officer in the area saw the car speeding, and soon after that arrived at the crash scene. According to police, two people jumped out of the car just after the crash and ran away. They were arrested a short time later. A third person was found inside the wrecked car, badly injured. That person later died at the hospital. The car involved in the accident had been stolen, according to police.

Kansas City, MOSheriff Deputies from Miami County have arrested a man they believe is responsible for stealing two vehicles then crashing one in a rural area.
Undersheriff Wayne Minckley said the suspect stole a car from a home in Johnson County, Kan. The suspect then ditched that car in Miami County and stole a second car near 255th Street and Metcalf.
The residents heard the commotion of a thief stealing their car and called authorities.
While running away from deputies, the suspect crashed near 223rd and Metcalf.

Ventura, CAA 25-year-old Oxnard man was arrested Thursday for a hit-and-run incident in Ventura, police said.
Police responded to a call on the 10500 block of Nopalito Street, where the suspect, identified as Andrew Ambriz, allegedly stole the unidentified victim's car, Ventura Police Department officials said.
The victim, who knew Ambriz, tried to prevent him from leaving, but was struck as he drove east on Nopalito Street, police said.
Ambriz stopped the car and fled on foot to a nearby residential area, witnesses told police.

New Orleans, LAA Baton Rouge man was arrested Tuesday in Meraux after fleeing police in a stolen Cadillac and crashing the car into a house, according to the St. Bernard Sheriff's office.
Michael Perriloux, 18, was spotted driving recklessly by a St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's deputy on E. Judge Perez Drive.
Perriloux stopped the car in the 4500 block of E. Judge Perez Drive. But as the deputy was getting out his car, the Cadillac sped off.

Baltimore, MDAll Amtrak and MARC rail service between Baltimore and Wilmington was suspended for several hours Tuesday evening after a man was killed on train tracks in Rosedale, rail and police officials said.
Baltimore County Police believe the man failed to hear the train coming toward him at a high rate of speed after a stolen ATV in his possession "broke down on him next to the tracks just prior to the accident."

Cleveland-Akron, OHAn attempted traffic stop in East Cleveland ended with a woman crashing into a railroad bridge on Euclid Avenue in Cleveland around 3 a.m. Tuesday.
According to East Cleveland police, they attempted to stop a stolen Jeep driven by a woman in their city. The woman took off from the officer, shortly after taking off the driver crashed into the railroad bridge at East 123rd Street and Euclid Avenue.
East Cleveland police stated that they were not chasing the woman at the time of the crash but witnessed the crash.

Hartford & New Haven, CTAn East Hartford teen is dead after a Honda struck a sanitation truck on Silver Lane in East Hartford on Monday.
The crash happened on Silver Lane near the intersection with Holland Lane around 11 a.m. Monday and police identified the driver of the car as Leonel Colon, 17, of East Hartford.
On Monday, police said the car was stolen and the driver lost control.
Officers pursued the Honda on Burnside Avenue earlier Monday morning, but the chase was called off and was not connected to the crash, according to police.
