Columbus, GAA 5-year-old suffered a head injury after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday evening after walking away from an ice cream truck in the 500 block of Fruitwood Circle in Opelika.
The child, later identified as Arianna Monique Thomas, was flown by medical helicopter to Columbus Regional Hospital, Opelika police released.
Witnesses told police they saw a vehicle traveling on the roadway and swerving at a high rate of speed at around 6:45 p.m. After the child was hit, the driver got out of the vehicle, then got back in and drove away.

Tuesday, March 18, 2014A CHP pickup truck with emergency lights and siren activated collided with a car Wednesday at an off-ramp between Esparto and Woodland, causing minor injuries.
At about 10 a.m. Wednesday the officer in the black and white CHP pickup with camper shell was heading eastbound on Highway 16 approaching the Interstate 505 over crossing.
A CHP press release said that the officer was traveling “Code 3” with lights and siren activated in response to a call of an officer down needing assistance in the Woodland area. The release did not say any more about the officer-down call.

Milwaukee, WIA Milwaukee man likely suffered a medical emergency before he crashed his SUV and died near the Marquette University campus Wednesday morning.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's report said Bernard Veasy, 63, was leaving Potowatomi Bingo and Casino when he crashed into a brick pillar on the university campus at 16th Street and Clybourn Avenue.
According to investigators, Veasy was stopped at a red light on 16th street when he failed to move after the light turned green. After cars behind honked their horns, Veasy's SUV drifted through the intersection and struck the brick pillar.

Tuesday, March 18, 2014A Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school bus with more than two dozen students on board was involved in a collision Wednesday morning.
The two-vehicle collision happened around 6:50 a.m. at the intersection of West Clemmonsville Road and Ebert Road. No one was injured.
Bus #472 was going south on West Clemmonsville Road when an SUV ran a red traffic light and hit the bus, Winston-Salem police said. The SUV driver was cited for a stop light violation.
The bus was carrying 26 students at the time of the collision.

Johnstown-Altoona, PAA woman already scheduled to appear in court on DUI charges related to a 2013 crash was arrested Wednesday in Susquehanna Township for driving under the influence after a head-on collision.
Susquehanna Township police confirmed that 34-year-old Janine Rawls, of the 500 block of North 36th Street, was taken into custody at about 10 a.m. at the scene of the collision on Herr Street at Canby Street.

Trenton-NJPolice in Galloway Township are investigating an accident that killed one pedestrian and injured another.
On Wednesday, March 19th around 9:38 a.m., the driver of a 2007 Honda Civic, 41-year-old Sharon Musher, was reportedly traveling north on Leipzig Avenue when she lost control of her vehicle, struck two pedestrians walking southbound on the sidewalk, and then struck a tree.

Chicago, ILAn 89-year-old man who was struck and killed early Tuesday morning was dragged more than three miles by a semi before the driver discovered his body, police said.
Investigators believe Carmello Anzalone was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross the “busy intersection” at Mannheim Road and Armitage Avenue in Leyden after getting off a bus, Northlake Police Department Commander Jay Militello said.
His body was later discovered attached to the undercarriage of a semi truck, more than three miles away in an industrial area at Grand Avenue and Garnet Drive, Militello said.

Boston, MAA Framingham town employee is currently being held without bail after police say he tried to kill two children by crashing his car into a pole.
Prosecutors say Peter Curtis, 32, of Medway, picked up his 10-year-old niece and 15-year-old nephew at their home on Monday to give them a ride to their mother’s workplace.
According to the police report, Curtis, who works for the Framingham Parks and Recreation Department, warned the children just before he crashed.
“Buckle up, we’re going on a death run,” prosecutors claim Curtis said.

Boston, MABoston police have located the car believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run crash in the Back Bay that critically injured a pedestrian and snarled traffic during the morning commute today, authorities said.
The victim, who was an adult male, was transported to Boston Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said in a statement.
Officers responded to the MBTA Massachusetts Avenue station at 6:02 a.m. to investigate reports of a person struck by a car, according to Officer Rachel McGuire, a police spokeswoman.

Memphis, TNA 25-year-old man was killed when his car left the road and flipped early Wednesday morning, police said.
The incident happened just after 3 a.m. near 75 S. Mendenhall in East Memphis.
According to police, Joseph Gibson was heading south on Mendenhall in a 2008 Chevy Silverado when it hit a curb with the front tire on the passenger’s side.
The car went airborne and landed in the driveway of a home at 63 S. Mendenhall, traveled on its side across the yard and struck a tree.
The car kept sliding, smashing into an iron fence at 75 S. Mendenhall.
