A woman was ticketed after police said she caused a two-vehicle wreck in St. Joseph County. Kennedy Banks, 26, was in his vehicle and stopped on eastbound M-60 near Haines Road outside Three Rivers, waiting for traffic to clear so he could turn left into his driveway. Jessie Hanstine was also traveling east when her vehicle rear-ended Banks’ vehicle around 2:26 p.m. Tuesday, police said. Both drivers from Three Rivers wore their seat belts, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a hospital. Hanstine, 20, was cited for failing to stop at an assured, clear distance.
A snowboarder died Tuesday after he crashed into a tree at the Snowmass Ski Resort.
According to a statement from the Aspen Skiing Company released to the Aspen Daily News, the Snowmass Ski Patrol received a report about an injured snowboarder at about 2:46 p.m. Tuesday.
Crews responded to the scene on Gunner’s View Trail, where they found an injured 54-year-old snowboarder from Germany.
The skiing company said the victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
After an almost nine-hour search, officials announced a dirt bike rider who went missing Tuesday evening had returned home Wednesday morning.
Antonio Marquez, 54, was taken home when a driver saw him on the side of the road, officials said.
Marquez told his daughter he crashed his bike on a difficult trail as the sun started to set Tuesday evening, slid down a small cliff, and used the light on his phone to find his way to a main road, she said.
A man died in a traffic accident Tuesday after his car slid into an oncoming semi truck near North Plains.
Paul David Suryan, 34, of Forest Grove was killed at approximately 11:00 a.m. Tuesday after his Toyota Camry crossed the traffic lane along Northwest Zion Church Road and was struck by an oncoming semi, according to Washington County sheriff's deputies.
Deputies believe Suryan was going more than 55 mph when he failed to negotiate a curve and was struck by the westbound truck. Excessive speed was probably the cause of the crash, said the sheriff's office.
A man who was involved in a violent domestic altercation died after he crashed into a tree during a police pursuit in Coral Springs Tuesday night, police said.
The incident began when Coral Springs Police responded around 7:15 p.m. to the 2600 block of Riverside Drive and were told that the suspect, 36-year-old Joel Matias, had been involved in a physical altercation with two men.
During the altercation, Matias pushed a pregnant woman to the ground causing injuries before he fled the scene in a green Toyota Corolla, police said.
A man from Pasadena died on the scene of a six-vehicle pileup on Route 100 in Anne Arundel County Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The victim was identified as Scott Robert Johnston, 54. Police said officers were called to the scene of the crash, on eastbound Route 100 near Route 10 in Pasadena, at 3:15 p.m.
Six vehicles, including a 2005 Mack cement mixer from Daniel G. Schuster, Inc., were involved and four other drivers had minor injuries in the crash.
The Chicago Fire Department was called Tuesday morning to a crash on the city's Southwest Side involving a car that crashed into a pole.
Crews arrived near Kedzie and Pershing to find several females pinned inside the car, including a 2-year-old.
Three women, ages 19, 20 and 24, were taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, another woman, 19, and the toddler were taken in critical condition to Mt. Sinai Hospital.
Traffic on Kedzie was blocked early Tuesday. Six ambulances responded to the scene.
