A Milwaukee man likely suffered a medical emergency before he crashed his SUV and died near the Marquette University campus Wednesday morning.
A Milwaukee man likely suffered a medical emergency before he crashed his SUV and died near the Marquette University campus Wednesday morning. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's report said Bernard Veasy, 63, was leaving Potowatomi Bingo and Casino when he crashed into a brick pillar on the university campus at 16th Street and Clybourn Avenue. According to investigators, Veasy was stopped at a red light on 16th street when he failed to move after the light turned green. After cars behind honked their horns, Veasy's SUV drifted through the intersection and struck the brick pillar. Minimal damage was reported to the pillar and the SUV. Medical personnel said Veasy was not breathing when witnesses pulled him from the vehicle. He never regained consciousness or a pulse. Family members told police that Veasy had been nauseous a few days ago, but appeared fine when he left his home Tuesday afternoon.. An autopsy is being performed to determine his cause of death.
