Robin Bissett of Deckerville was driving southbound on Van Dyke Road just north of Linck Road in Burnside Township, near Brown City, when a strong wind coming from an open field pushed her pickup truck across the road and into oncoming traffic, where she was hit head-on by a box truck. Her truck landed in a ditch on the west side of the road, and the box truck landed in a west side ditch. Bissett was taken to McLaren Lapeer Regional Medical Center, where she died at 6:50 p.m. that day, police said.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man who died Wednesday in an Adkins wreck as Leroy Salazar, 40. A black pickup had a blowout around 2:30 p.m. on Loop 1604 and smashed head-on into a white pickup that Salazar was driving, officials said. Salazar died at the scene. The driver and passenger in the black pickup, both men in their 20s, refused medical treatment. A spokeswoman for the Bexar County Sheriff's Office said deputies do not suspect drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

A Vancouver woman remained in critical condition Tuesday at a Bend, Ore., hospital after the car she was driving Sunday collided head-on with a pickup on Highway 26. According to the Oregon State Police, Alexis Bennett, 27, was driving her 2011 Chevrolet Aveo west on the highway near Madras, Ore., when an eastbound 2000 Ford pickup crossed the center line and struck her car. Police said they are investigating the possibility that a tire blowout on the pickup played a role in the collision.

Two people were killed in a crash near 96th Street and Zionsville Road Tuesday afternoon. The crash happened around 1 p.m. Zionsville police say a Ford Explorer lost its right rear wheel due to lug nuts not being tightened, crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head-on. Police identified the victims as 30-year-old Mika Baird and 31-year-old Lesley Martinez, both of Indianapolis. The driver of the Chevy was not hurt. Investigators say everyone was wearing their seat belts.

Oregon State Police deputies continue to investigate a serious injury two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near Sutherlin Tuesday night. Shortly before 9 p.m., a 1985 Dodge pickup, driven by 30-year-old Joseph Reitmeier, of Medford, was northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 138 when its right rear tire blew out, said Lt. Gregg Hastings , an OSP spokesman.

A driver fleeing police Friday collided head-on with another car, bailed out on foot, then failed to scale a fence before throwing himself to the ground and surrendering to police. The suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Carl Smith. The pursuit started just before 3 p.m. near Florence Avenue and Flower Street in South Los Angeles, police said. The pursuit wound through streets for about 30 minutes. At one point the vehicle nearly hit a truck. The chase transitioned to the Century (105) Freeway, clocking speeds of 100, before going back onto the streets.
