The driver of a stopped vehicle on the side of I-78, Robert J. Burton, 52, of Richland Township, Bucks County, was killed when his vehicle was struck early Tuesday morning by a tractor trailer driven by a 64-year-old man. The tractor trailer caught on fire following the crash. An autopsy is planned for Wednesday to determine the cause and manner of Robert Burton's death.

Names of some of the drivers in a seven-vehicle crash on I-78 Monday afternoon that killed three have been released by Reading state police.

Surviving drivers are: Vincente Espinvera, 56, of Belleville, N.J.; Frank Burns, 37, of Gettysburg; Austin Knerr, 33, of Catasauqua, Pa.; Richard Hamilton, 61, of Amagansett, N.Y.; and John Hudock, 64, of Pottsville.

One person was killed during a fiery crash between a tractor-trailer and a car in Northampton County Monday morning.

The accident happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Interstate 78 in Glendon, Pa.

According to investigators, at least one person was killed after a ShopRite tractor-trailer and a car collided. Authorities say the car was trapped underneath the tractor-trailer and a fire started as a result of the crash.

It was not immediately known if the deceased was in the tractor-trailer of car.

A portion of the Pennsylvania Turnpike is shut down in snowy eastern Pennsylvania after a pileup involving what appears to be a couple dozen vehicles. Turnpike officials say all lanes westbound were shut down because of the accident between the Morgantown and Reading exits in Berks County. There was no immediate word on injuries in the crash. Also, an accident has shut down Interstate 78 eastbound in Berks County between mileposts 35 and 40 in Lenhartsville.
